2017 Rear Spring Racket

I've seen the service bulletin. I know GM has supposedly been "working" on this since 2015. My rear springs are LOUD. I can hear them over normal radio volume and the vent blowing. I pulled my OLD piece of junk boat trailer out of the garage and it makes less noise than my brand new truck. By "working" on the issue, I am sure GM just had an analyst say that it's cheaper to quiet the owners than to fix the issues. GM says just put more grease in it. I am sick of this crap. What else can I do about these things?

You and me both my friend.

Unfortunately, grease, or a total bushing replacement with something non-GM is the only solution.

Mine squeaks 10x worse than my 266k mile '94 K1500 did when I sold it, and I'm only at 91k miles! GM just doesn't GAF about customer satisfaction these days. It's all about the money.

Mine started before my first oil change. My brand new truck sounds like and old POS. The analyst said it would cost less to destroy the Silverado name over some lousy springs than to fix the issue. The service manager told me there was nothing he could do and he also thinks the grease is stupid. I asked him to put some Toyota springs under it. He didn't laugh...... Neither did I....  I have been a GM guy my whole life. He said probably 75% of the springs in the 2015-2018 Silverados squeak. These springs make me hate this truck.

Since 2015?  um my 2010 had/has noisey rear springs.  Had them replaced under warranty.  Glad to see they are consistant and this issue hasnt changed.

I'm taking it back to the dealership in the morning because supposedly they didn't use the lithium grease any of the first three times they addressed it. Lithium grease as instructed by the service bulletin. Apparently they had to special order the grease. I am not optimistic.

I sat in the waiting room at the dealership this morning waiting for them to pack my springs full of grease.... and I picked up the 2018 Silverado brochure. I found a section on the springs. The are apparently tuned for noise reduction. I guess they should be tuning my springs, not pack them with grease!!

Has anyone tried to lemon for defective springs? I got my paperwork from the dealership today. I've sent 15 emails to Chevrolet over the last two weeks. I'll give them one more chance to call me before I send in the paperwork.

If they've had 3 chances to repair the problem and still failed to fix it, you've got a case. At least that's how things work in MA ... YMMV.

My 2016 had some serious noise coming from the drivers side rear spring. I thought it was the shock because the truck had less than 7,000 miles...hwy miles...and sounded like a 95 f150 if you hit a speed bump. I traded it, not for that particular reason but it helped.

Mine sounds worse than that. Even with the flex from normal acceleration and braking. When I get it.... My 12 year old daughter can walk around in the bed and it's loud. I pulled my old  piece of junk boat trailer that was rusting in my friend's yard for 10 years out of my garage on Thanksgiving day to take my brother in law, who has a 2014 Silverado, fishing.. He commented on how loud my boat trailer was.... Nope.... it was my brand new truck. I wish he had recorded that.

And marketing. Let's say they're tuned for noise reduction in the brochure when in fact, 75% plus (according to my service manager) make a ton of noise.
