New Owner In MO

Thought I would sign up since I am a new owner and already have issues. Traded a 13 Miata in Wed. for a new 17 Colorado z71. Drove to 3.5 hours to get it, and didn't figure out that the radio reception is screwed up till I got it home since I was listening to XM on the way back.

Got it Wed. afternoon, but its been at my local dealer since yesterday morning. Told they are going to start pulling the interior tomorrow because they have determined that it is not the infotainment system being out of date. Wish I was more positive, but is what it is.

Got it back yesterday. Radio was fixed. Drove it this morning, radio was broken again so its back in the shop.

On the positive. Driving around a quad cab z71 silverado and am impressed. Did 57 miles today and averaged over 21mpg which I have yet to get near in my colorado. Think I am still under 19 in it after 360 miles.

Thanks guys, still no good news. Truck is still in the shop and has been all week. I wast old they had ordered an antenna base and it would be there tuesday. Tuesday I was told the antenna base would be coming from michigan and should only be a few days. Now I am told the part is on backorder with no eta.

Dealer received the antenna base yesterday. Installed it today. They test drove it, but it didn't fix anything. They called me to let me know they had pulled the lower dash and were ordering a new cable to replace the one that goes between the radio and the antenna base. I contacted GM Priority care to see what they can do, but at this point I will most likely be reaching out to a lemon law lawyer next week.

Well got the truck back thursday. It was an ordeal, took a second trip back to the dealer, then they managed to get the headliner dirty which I cleaned myself will not be going back.

The am/fm work.

XM cuts out for a couple minutes at a time still and does so randomly. Once/twice a day with maybe an 1-1.5 hours of driving. Sometimes it will have a second station trying to cut in. I have done 100 miles since thursday.

The truck vibrates when in drive, low, or reverse and at 600 rpms. You can feel it in the steering wheel, seat, and at times the side mirrors visible shake. Also can feel the idle wander a bit so going to take it back in.

Sorry to be a downer guys. I like the truck, at least in theory. Total miles 510.

Went to a different dealer today and can finally say I had a good dealership experience. There is no fix for the idle issue, but the service center did everything they could and in a timely fashion so no complaints there.

They documented the issue and there is a PIP out for it, but no fix.

Well, tired of dealing with gm and being told I will get called, but never get called. At this point aside from them saying they will call me each day and not I am told that GM is working on a fix for my issues and that I should wait. Seeing that it took a month to fix a radio without reception I am not holding my breath. Longer I keep the truck the more depreciation I take and also the likelihood of more issues coming up so I am out. I am gonna take the hit and go get a tacoma. Best of luck guys, but not going to buy another GM product.

    • My son got a hatchback withe the aero package for like 17k new. Great little car with amazing MPH
    • Yeah, I've given up years ago with that! I was able to load a few when I first joined the site sometime around '07. Then after maybe 20 pics, it said I exceeded the limit. Now every pic I try to post says I've "exceeded 1mb".   ONE MB??? That's Windows 95 ******, lol!!
    • I get the same results with pictures. Then I figure it out. Then I forget. Screw it.
    • I guess I'm the only one on this forum who can't get effing pics to load here! Do you have to resize them to post, or am I just blocked from uploads?   I have the same luck with automotive electronics ... but this is the ONLY site on the net that I have this problem!   I'd post pics of what I'm working on ... but I CAN'T! 🤬       Just fabbed up the kickdown cable (had to extend the cable mount WAAAY out from the throttle shaft to get a full pull), and parts arrived for the fuel lines on the 940 carb conversion project. Should be able to drive this thing by the end of the day. If not for work, I'd have had this thing done SIX weeks ago.   Got the jetting sorted out last week. Had a real bad tip-in bog that I couldn't seem to correct. Friggin float height was over 11mm too HIGH! eBay purchase, so no wonder everything is screwed up right out of the box! I ended up with a larger dual-squirt accelerator pump jet anyway instead of the single. Also moved the 70 primary idle jet (4 sizes too big out of the box) to the secondary idle circuit, and installed a 57 in the primary. Runs great on the fuel bottle!    Still using the computer for ignition. Going to drive it first and see if I want to go through the project of installing an intermediate shaft with a distributor drive gear, so I can install a block-mounted distributor and run points, 100% computer free. I should do that anyway just from a simplicity / reliability / tunability standpoint. The electronics left me stranded last year a couple times! I can't tweak the timing to my liking right now because of the computer. Tried twisting the cam-driven distributor already ... and the damned thing just reverts back to where it was! That's infuriating. But if it runs well enough I might save that for next season.   Just driving it in and out of the shop to work on other projects, it feels 1,000% more responsive with the carburetor. Also fires MUCH faster when cranking. Can't wait to drive it and see if I got more than 114 ponies, lolol.   Hopefully these don't go 404 like the last post ... https://postimg.cc/gallery/MjhrmZS   Seems like that site went back to dial-up internet! Maybe they'll fix that some day ...
    • Triumph makes me think of cars not bikes. Especially with model names like the TR7, that was a Triumph car model too. Peak TR for me was the TR250. You could retain the post-war roadster looks, with an optional surrey hard top, but with an inline 6 engine instead of the TR4's anemic 4-cylinder, but still have a 4 speed, optional overdrive.   I know almost nothing about Triumph bikes, except that they exist. Good looking bikes though.   I don't know if I could just have one vehicle. The Silverado does it all except for fitting anywhere. But it leaves a void in real driving enjoyment, unless driving an extremely large sofa is your thing.   What did I do to my 'other' (muslce car - which one!?) vehicle lately. I took my '23 SS for a drive. It's only got 1600 miles. I keep reminding myself I shouldn't be so precious about this car. It likes to be driven. Needs to be driven. Life is short and if I don't enjoy it, someone else will. The other half calls it "the garage ornament".
