steve76t Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 Today an error popped up on my dash stating "Service Suspension". This popped up right after a slightly aggressive turn onto a freeway on ramp with a rough section of pavement on the inside, right side, of the corner. The rear end slid and skipped a little a bit to the left during the turn which was a little unsettling. Before I go the end of the on-ramp the "Service Suspension" message showed up. When I got home I took a look around and found the rod that and control box at the rear driver side has come loose and is hanging from it's wiring. Anyone else have this come up on their trucks? Here are a couple pics...
Crstfr Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 its hard to believe stuff like this happens..... sucks man~
steve76t Posted March 13, 2018 Author Posted March 13, 2018 Truck is at the dealership & they've now said they'll need to order a new mounting bracket and control module. Truck will be in the shop for a couple days waiting on parts.
Dnt Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 Thanks for the heads up rolling underneath mine in five mins to check that. What is your build date? Might find a trend here................

Might find a trend here................ I'll have to check the build date when I get the truck back. If I'm lucky that might be today. However, parts had to be ordered as they are replacing the bracket and control module which may or may not arrive today.
steve76t Posted March 15, 2018 Author Posted March 15, 2018 Nope, no truck yet. Replacement bracket has arrived, but the control module is coming from the manufacturer & won't arrive until tomorrow. Then they need to find a new bolt to mount the new bracket to the frame. The bracket is coming from GM but requires a special tapered bolt that is on back order. They found a dealership that has one in stock & ordered it. They just don't know if it'll get shipped out overnight today or not.
Dnt Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 odd little set up there the device and bracket are kind of fragile looking little pieces. You can actually reach the bolt without getting underneath it is behind the wheel a little but you can see it easily. All tight on mine I even put a wrench on it to make 100% sure. January 2017 build............

January 2017 build............ It does look a bit exposed and possibly easy to damage. In my case I'm not so sure it was installed correctly. The hook/tab at the top of the bracket should be at the bottom of the slot in the frame. If you zoom in on my pic you can see the impression from the bracket on the frame & the top of the bracket appears to have installed too high up and not fully set in the slots. Just my guess as to what was the main cause of my issue.
steve76t Posted March 20, 2018 Author Posted March 20, 2018 finally have her fixed and back in my possession. New mounting bracket, control module and bolt now replaced. Under warranty. Woo Hoo!
