Crack in paint

Recommended Posts

Okay so I was going over my truck like I do a few times a week( just habit idk why) and I noticed a crack in my paint! I’m beyond irritated to say the least. Anybody else have this happen?! It’s about a half inch long and it’s in the driver side rear door. 578b6ad38ad623cd93a8c55c762aaad9.jpg

Hard to tell from the picture. I’ll get better ones tomorrow. How hard is it to fix?! Should I just bring it to the body shop and have it fixed or leave it be?

You’re right, it’s hard to tell exactly what you have.   There are some dentless repair services that could probably make this look virtually unnoticeable.   A body shop will want to do it correctly but cost a whole lot more.

these things bug me.  I have to fix them.  “It’s a truck.” says my wife.

Luckily my wife told me to get it fixed. The crappy part is it’s gonna have to wait as we are trying to save for a house. But I’ll try and put more OT in at work and hopefully I can have it fixed sooner rather than later. Just irritating that I bought the truck a month ago( granted it’s a 14 with 45k miles) and all these little things are happening.

Check for accidents.  It could be bondo cracking under the paint.

It had a clean CARFAX and service records.

I found out that my box on the passenger side where the exhaust exits had been Bondoed and re painted. Had a small crack is how I found out.

After it's repaired, do yourself a favor and get it filmed. XPEL ultimate.

Your wife is right, especially if it is used in anyway, shape or form as a truck...

Just throw some touch up paint on it, unless it starts getting much worse and peeling you never look down there as it looks pretty low...

I had the whole front end done on my 2017 2 days after purchase (Z71 midnight edition) bumper, 18" up the hood and quarter panels, A pillars, back of side mirrors.

Whole thing was around $750 last June.

There was a service bulletin for 2014+ trucks that had paint adhesion problems. Maybe a dealership can work with you on a repair.
