Can't burnout

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I know it's a stupid thing but I can't burn out. Sometimes when it's wet out . I have a 2008 Silverado z71 5.3 with a Diablo tune, kn cold air intake, flowmaster and a pedal commander throttle controller. I also have a aftermarket trailer break controller. Not sure if that's what is keeping me from doing a burnout. Anyone know how or why? 4th of July is coming and I want to do one for America lol

Traction control off,

Shift into manual 1st gear,

power brake and

Viola tire spin.

I experimented on a rental before getting mine.

I don't have traction control or stabiltrack. I'll try putting it in 1st gear tho. Also don't have it it on 4x4 auto lol

Try putting it reverse and flooring it. That is a basic test to insure that the rear axle will break traction and "burn out". If it will not burn out in reverse, than you have a 4x4 issue, slipping trans, etc. You can also try this on gravel. If you have a locking / posi / limited slip rear end, then its going to take some serious power to bust em free. Another option would be to install an extra washer spray bottle, and hook the spray nozzles up in the wheel wells.  Add Windex or soapy water to the bottle.  It will make it much easier to burn out, and it will also save your tires, trans, and everything else. Burning out regularly will result in MUCH higher vehicle maintenance.

Oh, and try to keep your fuel tank as empty as possible. Gas is around 10 pounds per gallon, so that extra 300 LBS of fuel will increase the traction, making it hard to burn out. You can also increase your rear tire pressure up to around 45 or 50 LBS. That will also reduce traction.

Gasoline weighs 6.07 lbs per gallon

Water weighs 8.34 lbs per gallon

Prior to installing line lock, or smoking your rear brakes, put some blocks in front of your front tires and see if it helps you roast your tires. What I can tell you is this: You got one hell of a first world problem on your hands.

First World prob·lem
noun
informal
plural noun: First World problems
  1. a relatively trivial or minor problem or frustration (implying a contrast with serious problems such as those that may be experienced in the developing world).
"it's a First World problem, but still if you're staying at a 5-star resort you expect some decent service"

You're gonna tear up your truck. The 4-speed 4L60E transmission and 8.8" 10-bolt G80 rear end you have will not stand up to repeated brake stands (power braking) over the long term.
