With the addition of my mother in laws house to look after I’m at 4 houses and 5 total acres. I told her go for it. She can have a blast for 5 or 10 years then move in with us. By then we’ll probably need a little help her last kid will be grown. Sure if she stays in her house it will appreciate more. As it ages the AC will need replacing, the roof etc. Her retirement is covered by inheritance especially if she can keep us home building equity. Instead of assisted living. So it’s not always cut and dry. Sometimes you have to know when to cash out.
