Mine are here in IL, one was in the Bourbanais area and the other in Frankfort Il.

It was a real struggle dealing with them in general and I still feel like I didn’t get a very good deal. I have to look over my paperwork again to see if I missed anything. They play with the numbers so much when you are there it’s insulting.

Why do you allow them to "play" with the numbers?. It's very simple. Tell them what you will pay for the new vehicle and that you'll take a "yes" or a "no", period ----- any other nonsense and you immediately head for the door. Once you have established a price for the new vehicle, on paper, you tell them what you need for your trade, yes or no. People who play "car dealer" deserve the beating they are going to get.

Thanks for the tips. I've been learning, I'm no pro at this. What got me really irritated with this dealer is that they were trying to play with my interest rate, which pretty much made me tell the salesman to GTFO and don't come back till he had something that was insulting. Next time I will try to secure my own financing in the future beforehand and even if I can't, I'll see if I can get the dealer to show me the interest rates they have. This past buying experience has taught me a few things in the process.

That's a corollary. Always have financing lined up beforehand or at least know what should be doable. The thing is that, on average, you buy a vehicle every seven years while the dealer sells vehicles all day, every day. They are better at selling than you are at buying. You need to narrow that gap. It can be done. You have, unfortunately, got to go  to a dealer for a new vehicle. Everything else you can get elsewhere.

If you do some research on here you’ll find a fair amount of info on Laura GMC just outside of St. Louis. A lot of guys from all over the country buy here and fly in drive home (they will pick you up at the airport) or have their truck delivered to them. They are usually (not always) the cheapest in the nation depending on current GM incentives ( so prices fluctuate month to month) and apparently the price listed on their website is the price you pay + a couple hundred bucks. Seems like they aren’t to keen on trades so most guys seem to sell their old trucks out right and sometimes the salesman will be working with 2 or 3 buyers at the same time. Rumor this spring was supposedly they where getting a Chevy Stealership also but I don’t know if that happened/is happening yet?

I went to Holiday in Whitesboro Texas. They have decent internet prices but they can still be haggled down a good bit more. Internet prices are usually 5k dealer discount + anything Chevy is doing. Their trucks also normally don't have hardly any addons which I love, cheaper to do it myself. The only "trick" they tried to pull on me was rating my trade as rough / fair condition. I called them out on it and fixed that as my trade didn't have a single scratch and I had already checked kbb, edmunds, blackbook. I knew about them from helping my buddy purchase his 2018 Fusion Sport twin turbo awd. Their Ford dealer was 4-5k cheaper than any other dealers we talked to within 100 miles.

I am finding that the selection of Silverado/Sierra trucks is starting to dwindle.  Some odd configurations are also starting to emerge.  I am surprised at how plain an SLT or LTZ can be when compared to my current SLE!

I used to here about them all the time when I was a regular at coloradofans forum. Guys would fly down there to get some amazing deals. I just know now for the next time what to do and what not to do. Figure I’ll be keeping this truck for the long haul so it’ll be awhile before heading to dealer again, but I’ll know these things for next time.

Now I just need to slowly start working on my mods and updates. I already bought weathertech mats this past weekend. My next two things is waiting to around Labor Day weekend when all of the truck sites have their sales so I can get myself a tonneau cover. I am also getting GM points so I was going to use that towards possibly getting the black bow ties.

When I bought mine last week it was starting to get to slim pickings especially with color and features. I was having a hell of a time finding an LT in Black with even heated seats. So many LTs that didn’t have heated seats it was crazy. I ended up settling with graphite gray to get some of the options like heated seats. The LTZ would of been nice but that was out of my price range.

Congratulations on your new truck!  I would be happy to find a well appointed LT or SLE.  I thought by searching for an LTZ or a SLT most of my wants would be standard.  This is not the case.  I am finding odd combinations like no backup sensors or brake controller but has a sunroof.  I am fortunate that I am very fond of my current truck and don't need to compromise.  I want to be able to tow a heavier trailer which won't be purchased until I have the right truck.

I was in this same situation about 6 weeks ago with my 15 Z71 CCSB Collie that still had 1yr left on the lease

I talked to the same dealer where I got it, told him what I wanted and less than 1 week later I was driving home a Silver Redline Double Cab.

The nice thing about that package is it comes with steps and factory spray in liner which I would have gotten anyway.

He didn't hesitate to pay off my truck and had it sold in less than 2 weeks.

I wanted the longer bed and auto 4WD, the '15 Colorado didn't have auto 4WD.

If it had auto 4WD and and the long bed I probably would still be driving it.

I can't believe this is the only picture I have of it.

I ran into the same issue as you, looking for Z71 Crew LT's. There were issues trying to find one in black with the options I wanted, then there were some of those options that were missing which another truck with a different color had. I found this one I have now, which while the color isn't black, the graphite is nice.

Mine doesn't have the backup sensors or the brake controller. It is weird. I looked at a few other Z71 LT's where if they had the brake controller, they didn't have heated seats. Being here in the the suburbs of Chicago, heated seats are huge.

Another thing, some had heated mirrors, while some I saw didn't. I'm like just some very odd configurations.

What don't you like about your 2015 Sierra that is making you look for a new truck?

Congrats! That is one sweet looking truck. The Redline editions really do get some nice looking trim and accessories. Is yours the 6.2L?

I don't miss my Collie at all. It was a nice first truck that did its job for about 2 years, but we needed more room and this will do the trick. The other issues I had with my 2016 Collie that was fixed in the 2017 and newer models with the updated trans was the stupid "stutter" that would occur when you would decelerate down to under 15-20 MPH and then try to accelerate again. It was such a flaw in the 2015-2016 model years, that GM always said the trucks were designed to run like that. I guess they just released a new update for it via GM, but its a real pain to get them to update the computer.

The only thing I do miss out of my Collie is the leather seats, since mine in the Silverado are cloth. The salesman told me they have a place that reupholsters the seats and they aren't that expensive. I might go that route down the road after I take care of my other updates/mods I want to make to the truck first.
