My 2016 Sierra with the 6.2 has been at the dealership for over a week now.  Had the check engine light come on and it read codes of something about transmission flow issue and they I guess determined it was the temp sensor.  Well apparently the temp sensor is on national backorder so they have no idea when it will be available.  Anyone have any experience with national backorder?

Haven't heard of this But it's funny I will call my GM rep tonight and get the low down. However sounds like more of the 6.2/8speed curse.

Nope it's not 6.2L curse...it's 8L90 M5U curse...if you want to remove all the unwanted crap related to the Transmission you will....make sure it has updated Torque Converter made after the initial Stalling failure to engage bulletin et.  Replace all coolant and keep filter in place....Drive for few weeks and Replace all fluid, Wire Harness, filter and pan gasket.  Your fine when all you get is the two bumps from line pressure in morning off cold soak.....Nothing can be done about it...It's programmed in!

Wow.  I wasn’t even having any issues besides that hard shift every once in awhile. So it sounds like I’m in for a fun time with the transmission then.

They tell me me I can’t drive it so I just want it fixed at this point.

Thought I would update this just in case someone else has an issue.  The part finally came in and it was fixed.  Apparently there is a service bulletin out on this issue and it was fixed and I was not charged for the fix.

Bumping this up.  I got a check engine light due to a transmission code.  Does anyone have a part number for the sensor, in case powertrain warranty doesn't cover it.  Thanks. @newdude

Part of the interal wiring harness on the 8L90 8 speed.  24297369 is the most current #.  Retails for $95.06.  I show coverage ability for factory powertrain and factory emissions for that if its the cause of your issue.

So far my 6.2 8 speed has been flawless. I have 10000 miles on it and i have had AFM off since 40 miles. My range did come unplugged once and my tranny started acting a little funny. I think Afm is 90 % of the problems people have with the 8 speed. The corvette 8 speed has been a beast and can take a lot of power.

Could be, I've got 37k on mine now.  I did have it flushed due to the torque converter shudder I was having, and now the temp gauge is bouncing around.  Hopefully this is the last of my issues,  normally I wouldn't care about a gauge that much, but when the temp is low the TCM won't let the TC go into lockup.

At what temp does it let the TC go into lockup?

I'm not sure what temp it is command for in the TCM, I just know that my truck wouldn't go into lockup on the highway sometimes.  Just got my truck back yesterday, wiring harness was replaced under warranty.

Dropped our 2015 Yukon denali off on July 25 for an oil change and to check an error code.  They say it was the temperature sensor - they ordered the wrong part and have now been waiting 3+ weeks for the correct part and harness to come in. Still no ETA on when parts will be in.

Did some more digging and found this - TSB from last week- 18-NA-355 recommending fluid flush to resolve shuddering.

I've been told it isnt related.

So far all covered under warranty and loaner car provided but it sure isn't a Denali and its driving my wife nuts.
