HID question

I went with LED bulbs and I went cheap and they still suck beam wise...I have a 2014 and looking at the Morimotto HID because I heard good things. My question is what about the Daytime running lights? My model uses the regular light for that...short life span? Flicker issues? Anyone with insight...I can't afford the 2016 Denali lights for $1000 lol

I have them and they are great. With the relays in their harness and them getting power directly from the battery your daytime running lights still operate as usual but they do come on at full bright.

I have the morimoto hids in my 14 sierra with the drl's as my main bulbs, the voltage is just reduced I believe. I bought them from ledconcepts.com. I've had them for probably 8 months and have had 2 bad ballasts already. Warranty covered both and customer service is actually pretty good through them, along with fast shipping. It's just the hassle of having to swap everything from 1 side to the other during their "troubleshoot" process. Other than the couple of issues I've had I love my bulbs and will never go back to the crappy oe bulbs. Mine are the 55w ballasts and 6000k bulbs. I went with those so they would match the fogs they offer if I ever decide to upgrade those. Couple pictures, along with high and low beam. Hope this helps.

I use the D2S 4.0 kit with Hyluxtek ballasts. No need to connect to battery. Runs off factory headlamp plugs. Also daytime running lights are just normal full headlight.

Morimoto still works off of the factory plug and switch. When they are turned on the relays close and get power direct from the battery.

Wow the pictures are great thanks! The view of light looks great compared to what I have now. I normally just turn the running lights off if I remember...but I primarily drive at night so I would hate for my lights to not work like the ballast or what not...very tempting to try though

If your concerned about one quitting on you you might just buy an extra ballast to keep handy in case one fails while your waiting on the warranty to go through. I bought a spare bulb but have not needed it yet. If I have another issue with a ballast I will end up buying a spare ballast myself. But yes the light output is night and day difference. I do alot of night driving as well and was worried about deer stepping out in front of me. Not so much now. I definitely had to re adjust my headlights, I was getting bright lighted quiet a bit with them on dim.

There's a Phillips head adjustment screw on top of the headlight. I don't remember exactly what the measurements are but you measure your beam at the headlight and parked so many feet away from a wall your beam is supposed to measure a certain amount of inches lower projected on the wall. There's a thread on it somewhere on here. It's simple and only takes just a few minutes to do.

Easiest way iv found to aim your headlights is

1) Make sure its almost fully dark outside

2) find a flat level area that has a wall big enough to project both of your lights onto

3) pull your truck up to the wall as close as you can while still being able to mark with tape the top most brightest edges of both headlights on the wall

4) back up 25 feet and make sure your beams are still at the same level as the tape. If not adjust up or down.
