AFM Disable

Recommended Posts

Hi all.  I have a 2011 5.3 Sierra.  Just got the truck and know nothing about tunes.  All I basically want to do is disabled the AFM.  Maybe do a little adjusting in the future.  Only 23 thousand miles on it.  What is a good tuner to buy for what I want to do?

Thanks

I bought my 2011 in April of 2017 with 2,500 miles on it. I bought a Diablo Tuner that allowed me to disable the AFM and then got a Diablew Tune to help with shifting and performance. I'm very happy with it!

Congratulations on your find! Post some pictures.

Range V8 module is the easiest and cheapest, if all you want to do is disable AFM.  And it can be removed from the OBDII port for dealer visits.

I agree, the dealer could do this, but if you have intentions on running bigger tires or doing other mods the tuner is nice to have for programming. I have the superchips tuner and it has worked well for me.

This video may help you!

Your goals were not different than mine.  I had BlackBear turn off AFM and tune the engine and transmission.  I don't hot dog around so the engine tune is very conservative but the transmission performs beautifully now and I was happy with it beforehand.
