Remote start run time

Has anyone cracked the code for allowing the remote start to go more than 10 minutes or twice before you have to start with the key?

These guys can reprogram your BCM to extend the run time requires sending your BCM to them and ain’t exactly cheap but there’s a laundry list of other stuff they can do to it while it’s there (turn off drls, fogs on with high beam, delete hyper flash, ect). Also truck will be down while BCM is out so you’re riding the bus or hitchin a ride till you get it back.

Unfortunately they are backlogged is why it doesn’t show anything on this page seems to happen from time to time once they are back and up you’ll see all the things they can do for you.

There are options but requires parts. There isn't a factory option per say. once done know one would be able to see the difference same key fob and all.

(Deleted inaccurate info) There were reports that the trucks were catching fire while being allowed to sit idling for too long. That’s when GM issued a recall (Deleted inaccurate info). You may want to read up on this some more before bypassing it.

Even the GMT900 trucks starting in 2007 have a 10 minute run timer and only one restart.  That is nothing new.  If your truck catches fire from idling you have some serious problems.

 

White Auto and Media is who I am going to send my 2017's BCM too.  The GMT900 trucks can be programmed with EFILive via an external add on to program the BCM but nothing for the newer trucks yet anyway.

doubt if my truck will catch fire idling at 30 below zero when I need it to warm up more than 10 min.

If it does my response is good riddance.  When it hits around -25 to -30 C I never shut my truck off from the time I leave home in the morning until I return at night.  I like being warm lol... and I work out in the bush so to speak.

Why are you sending him your BCM?

You could change the settings to a higher idle based on engine coolant temp, need a tuner for that. My truck is over 180* before I get out on the road.  Block heater or oil heater is another option. but I would just buy a the Idata link module and call it good! Cheap easy and looks 100%OEM. It's got me thinking about it. I could remote start it normal or with the factory fob to a longer time. Something to think about.

That recall only pertained to 014 trucks and it was supposedly a software problem that was fixed with a reprogram. “exhaust components” catching fire sounded like to much fuel/heat build up in the exhaust to me? Of course all auto manufacturers are going to say don’t leave an idling vehicle unattended...  Of course all the fires where when it was cold out cause they were brand new trucks at the time nobody left them idling unintended till it got cold out... Apparently including the GM employees that did the 2 million mile/200,000 hour pre-production testing on them...
