Coolant leak

I just put a new water pump on 3 months ago it's been leaking past couple weeks was gonna work on it today but my dad didn't want to mess with it I'm just tired of buying jug every other week it leaks when all the time my dad said it could be pump gasket or valve cover gasket but I think it's pump gasket what do u guys think I should do good thing is it has 1 year warranty

Visible leak? Trace it.

Not visible? Could be HG.

Was it leaking prior to WP change? Leak that large should be easy to find if it's external. Have you thoroughly gone over the engine, hoses, radiator, etc... ? I think you mean head gasket (HG) not valve cover.

It wasn't leaking before the new water pump and yes that's what I meant head gasket lol only reason I had to replace the old water pump cuz the shaft for the fan was bent a little causing it to squeal like a fan belt would I actually replaced the belt thinking it was that and it wasn't

What brand of water pump did you install? and what kind of gaskets did it come with? Did you torque the water pump bolts to spec??? If they weren't torqued evenly that could also cause problems.

Is there anything out there that I can put in radiator to stop leaking from water pump I think seal is bad

If the water pump is leaking, put a new one on.

Anything stop leak additive could plug up the radiator.

Do it right and install a new pump if it's leaking.

If it's the seal around the shaft - no. If it's the one of the non-moving seals - yes, but not recommended.

BarsLeak had been the gm recommended supplement for a while. However, many users over used the supplement and ended up clogging passageways elsewhere in the block causing more expensive overheating engine problems or blocked passenger heat cores.

Bite the bullet and replace the water pump.

No I just don't want to **** with flushing the radiator to fix a small problem my dad said it shouldn't be leaking when the water pump is brand new

I agree with your dad, but it is leaking.

So do you want to fix it right or not.

You don’t need to flush th radiator if you just changed it drain the fluid into a clean bucket and change the gasket. Us the felpro type metal with rubber on them.

Are you sure it’s the gaskets?

Yep just drain it below the WP.

 

If I were you, I'd replace the WP, if that is what is leaking. You should have some kind of warranty. If it's just gaskets, buy the better versions talked about in this thread
