My 14 Silverado has been locking me out for months. I had a leaking shark fin antenna around this time. I have finally traced it back to the BCM. Several trips to the dealer that says they cannot find anything wrong. If I jiggle the BCM a little the locks will go crazy, windows wont roll down, ect... I have a bumper to bumper 6 year 120k on this truck that is absolutely worthless. So far im out $500 on this issue with no help in sight from the dealer.

Does anyone know where I can buy a BCM? Does it need programmed by the VIN number? Thanks in advance.

Auto Parts Warehouse shows that they have in stock for $93.33. GMpartsdirect has them for $75.00. Not sure about the programming part.

It will need to be programmed IN your truck.

Thats what I was worried about, I was really hoping I could order one based on my VIN. Ill call the dealer tomorrow and see what they say.

I had the same issue.   FORCE them to warrantee it.   Get ahold of GM.  The leak is a known issue and electric issues follow.  GM Cust service will contact the dealer.

My 2014 had a leak from the shark fin too.  Now my radio seems to be draining my battery.  The radio screen glows and the radio will turn on without the key in!  If I pull the radio fuse, the draw drops from 2.5 Amps to .2 amps.  I pulled out the BCM and opened it to see if there was any damage but it looks fine.  Reinstalled it and the symptoms are the same.

Taking it to the dealer might be the next step.

so is the water from shark fin going down the wire into bcm?radio? or water just getting on a certain component

The water leaks down the fin and/or windshield seal (don't forget to have that checked!!! Both my '17 and '18 had BOTH issues) and run down the A pillar.   The water then gets under the carpet and corrodes the wiring.   Causes shorts etc.   This drains battery and wrecks havoc on the computers.   I have not heard of any radios getting water in them, but the computers do.   This causes plenty of issues as you can imagine.  Most develop 6 plus months out.   There are plenty of Tech Bullets on this.   Force GM to do the right thing.

The radios work without the key in all of the 14-18s. All you have to do is push the power button and it will play. I use it that way all the time when cleaning my truck out.
