Thanks guys.  I totally understand how the forums work.  You rarely hear from the people who are totally satisfied with their trucks.  However, after reading all about the issue, it seems hard to believe that GM doesn't know they have a problem on their hands.  Here is an update as to where I currently stand...

I spoke with my Senior Advisor today.  Apparently a "new" bulletin has just been released by GM regarding the TCC shudder.  GM is releasing special tooling for dealerships in order to fully flush the transmission fluid from the truck.  I guess blowing out the lines with 60lbs of pressure wasn't doing the trick.  So at least they are making headway on it.  However, I was also told the tooling will not ship to my dealer until February 14th at the earliest.  Being as my truck shudders constantly between 40 and 50 mph (where I drive 90% of the time), I told the Advisor I felt GM should supply me with a loaner vehicle until the tooling arrives and my truck is fixed.  She then called my dealer who, of course, told her they wouldn't do that.  She called me back and said she was going to get in touch with the GM Regional Manager.  I am currently waiting on a call-back from her regarding his/her decision.  I can tell you one thing though.  If GM decides not to put me in a rental, they can kiss this customer goodbye.  In the past 10 years I have purchased 8 brand new Chevrolet's from this dealership.  I have been a very loyal customer to the brand.  If I am not shown some loyalty back, I will be taking my hard-earned money to a competitor and won't look back.

I have to agree with this.... You usually only hear about the bad ones...although there are a lot of people that may or may not have issues that don't know about this forum either.. But this does sound like a pretty big problem for GM since its not only our trucks..Camaro and Corvettes have the same problems..

I have my 2018 truck about a year now and 8500 miles and I don't have any issues with mine... My only real complaint is when doing a rolling stop and getting back on the gas it will act like its in neutral ( rpm goes up while coasting ) then slam into 1st... if I actually stop, there are no issues... I tried different speeds on the highway and no shuttering at all...so far

Just throwing it out there my 2018 was built in 11/2017 , not sure if time of build has anything to do with it

I know the 2015-2016 trucks had a lot more issues than the 2017-2018 models do., but I wonder how many 2018 models have this issue?? Most of the posts on here are 2015-2016 trucks, there are not too many specifically on the 2018s yet.
Sounds just like your torque converter is on its way out.

Maybe I can lend some info here on this issue. I’m an ex tech and for 25 years a factory field service rep ( not Gmc) so have been around the block. I had a 2017 6.2 8 speed and we replaced 2 converters and 3 flushes. Not to bad driving but pulling an rv was a dog ?   peach seeds it shook so bad. It did settle down after 10 k miles but always there. Family member bought it so I purchased a 2018 identical truck Max tow 6.2 8 speed end of production vin thinking this was it and all the problems cured. Wrong. Same thing.  IMO it is a tq modulation and the fluid breaks down.  Instead of me getting upset I just lowered my expectations of a Gmc truck.  Waiting for fluid fix and I don’t think you’ll get a rental as it is still drivable unpleasant as it is. You might be lucky especially if a good customer. I’m as anal as anyone on this problem ( ton of posts) but sitting back waiting to see if it really is repairable  I understand the 2019 8 speeds do not have this condition but I believe a different converter is used. End of my rant ??

i have experienced the odd lurch forward after remote start.  it's happened a handful of times since new.  6.2L sierra crew, mfg date 8/2018.  it was more prevalent when new and hasn't happened in a while.  about 3000 miles on it now.

so yeah, after a remote start i get in and as soon as i turn the key, the whole truck lurches forward.  i do set my parking brake every time i stop.  maybe the parking pawl didn't fully engage until the key was turned on again?  not sure if that makes sense.  it has only ever happened after a remote start.

anyone else ever experience this?

i do not have the shudder issue.  other anomalies include a hesitation when shifting from first to second (only seems to be when cold though).  the shift from first to second is also much firmer than other shifts.

I dont have the lurch forward, never did, and I have been using the remote start often now that its cold here in the NE.

Whats interesting, is that when my truck is cold, I feel its shifts better than when it gets warm... When i go to work first thing in the morning its been about 10- 20 degrees lately and the shifts are firm and positive and when it gets warm there seems to be more hesitation, like it takes extra timing out during the shift when warm.

Thanks teamkeystone.  Glad to here I'm not the only one who has experienced the lurch after remote starting.  I totally agree with you about the shifting.  Mine seems to shift much harder from 1st to 2nd.  After that, it does seem to smooth out somewhat.  I just don't think this is one of the better transmissions available.  Sad to say with it being such an expensive vehicle.

Well, I was informed by my Senior Advisor that the Regional GM Rep. denied my request for a loaner vehicle.  I guess I'm not surprised.  I am, however, disappointed.  Apparently because GM does not deem it a safety issue, they won't do anything.  I am supposed to wait until my dealership gets in the new tooling to do the fluid flush.  That is supposed to be sometime in mid February.  The GM Rep who denied my request should drive over the rumble strips in the middle of the road for the next 3 weeks.  At least then he/she would know what I'm dealing with on a daily basis in my brand new truck.  In the meantime, I'm just supposed to deal with it according to GM.  I've purchased 5 brand new Silverados in the past 7 or so years.  This is the thanks I'm shown?  I told my Advisor I won't be purchasing another GM product when the time comes for a new truck.  Her response?  "Oh, OK.  Is there anything else I can do for you?"  Is there anything ELSE you can do?  You have to actually do SOMETHING before you ask if you can do anything else!  The whole Senior Advisor thing is a joke.  It's just a way for GM to make you think they care.  They don't.  So much for being a Chevy "Truck Legend".  This legend is taking his bank account elsewhere.

I changed my windshield wiper fluid and that fixed the issue, try it might work for you.

New to the forum.

Just spoke with dealer re my 2017 High Country (6.2 and 8 speed).  They tell me there is "yet another new fluid being used to replace the fluid in trucks exhibiting ..."  Further, that the fluid is being provided to warm states first as the issue is more common ... that it is related to moisture.

Mine is being changed - BUT, there is a line of 10 trucks ahead of me ... :-)

Hopefully 2017 Darkness is correct - this will be a great thing!

BTW - ajensen383, there are huge numbers of people who suffer in silence or have been told by dealers, "they all do that," and they believed them.  But, I get your point ...

New to this forum.

In regards to this subject, is the shudder that some are experiencing feel like as if you were driving over rumble strips (wake up strips that are on the side of road)?   That is the shudder that I am having.  Seems more RPM related then mph as it will happen at speeds around 65-75 mph or speeds around 40-50 mph.  When it happens and taking foot off gas pedal (coasting) it goes away and may or may not return.  I though i read somewhere that it could be the throttle position sensor.  Thanks is advance to any responses.

Ha - so, after dealer explaining as I outlined a couple of posts, above, another person at the dealership called back a few minutes ago and they said nothing was wrong what it!

The story was the shop forman had driven it and it was not shuddering.  I asked how I could have  such a pointed, coherent discussion yesterday with an exact plan, down to the name of the transmission guy, with the service rep, and then today have a completely different story from a different person - almost as if yesterday didn't occur?  Answer - the service rep from yesterday is now on vacation for a week.

Follow up from me - did you not drive the truck until today?  How could the story from yesterday exist if you didn't drive it yesterday?

I made a recommendation for this new person to talk with the same people the rep yesterday spoke with - and requested a call back.

I'm guessing this will end with me picking the truck up, driving it until it starts again, and then taking it back ... probably several times.  On the other hand, perhaps it has magically disappeared?

    • I will admit I haven't experimented much with pressure drops beyond the numbers I put in and part of that is that the numbers I used are fairly low and then found out it would trigger regardless at that 35 psi. Having said that I had tried before had changed the placard pressures and being that I have a 1 ton set to 80 on the placard for the rear I believe it triggered close to 60, the front I don't recall now for sure but thought maybe it could get close to 45 from that factory 60 placard pressure. So I never did figure out if it was a number of psi from placard pressure to the alarm or a percentage of the total placard number as some figured it was like a 25% drop from placard pressure would trigger it. So as to try and answer your question, I believe I set the placard pressure on the front to 47 or so and while I run the front tires at 40, they have dipped below that some if its colder and I haven't put "winter air" in yet and never once have had the front alarm go off. I would say that the answer your looking for is no, that if you set your placard pressure to 45, you have a certain amount of room to drop below that pressure before the alarm will go off.    The pressures you decide to run in your truck, that ends up being what makes sense to you based on what your carrying in your truck or if towing, then have to bump them back up to something that will carry the load in the rear and the fronts typically left at the same pressure. It all comes down to that chart I put the link to and using an accurate roadside scale to be your guide, both unloaded and then loaded to know your minimum safe pressures.    I just wish GM would allow a person to change the readings for the tire pressures to the English system of pounds as I have to look at that goofy metric reading that will never ever jive in my head and will go over and change it just to figure out what they are if need be and then change it back.
    • That part I understand, that the dealer can do it. But I'm not understanding why updates that were available to the truck since it left the factory, or the dealership originally, would not still be available to it without dealer intervention.   I'm thinking along the lines of recalls. They stay available until they are completed, regardless of whether they are in warranty or not, or in the hands of the original owner or not. Why not updates as well, especially since some of those can be safety related also?
    • That's good to know, but I don't think I'll even be running them under 45 in the rear  unless it's on the sand or something but will only be for a short distance anyways!    I didn't read all the instructions in the booklet yet, but do you know let's say I set the rear psi on the placard to 45, will the warning light come on soon as it drops under 45 or is there a percentage it has to drop from the set value before the warning light is triggered?
    • That's bad.  Like, its probably destroying the stub axle the CV slides into.   Do you have a proper lift installed with differential lowering brackets?  Did you install AT4/Trail Boss factory CV axles?
    • Hot? New Jersey? Today? I was working on my old 2000 Silverado 1500 today. Believe me, it was boiling hot today. As it has been.
