Broken door panel

Recommended Posts

So my passenger rear door panel in my 2018 Silverado Z71 Crew Cab had a tragic accident as you can see. I want to replace the panel but the dealer quoted me at $289 for the panel and another $96 for labor. Does anyone one know of any cheaper options that will still get me a quality door panel. I bought the truck new in July and I reAlly don’t want to put a knock off cheap door panel back in it. Thanks for the help. a3491282e10257d8d03bcbd584122de5.jpg

If you dont want to spend the $289 for a brand new door panel, you should visit your local junk yard for one. The labor is really easy to do. If you cant get one at a junk yard, its either live with it, or buy a new panel. I mean, its a $50k truck, with a $289 door panel.

For starters, if your don't mind doing the work yourself the door panel isn't hard to remove and reinstall. There are some great videos out there that show you exactly how to do so.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I may visit a junkyard and do it myself. I’m a diesel mechanic at cummins but I’m one of those mechanics that seem to break everything I touch haha. So I was a little weary of doing it myself. If it is as easy as you say I’m going to give it a shot. Maybe I’ll buy 2 panels just in case! Ha!

Im a diesel mechanic as well. But I dont break much at all.  I do tons of ISC and ISL stuff. Watch a few videos. Its easy.

Hopefully this helps.

The rear is the exact same but there is no screw behind the trim under the window switch. So you dont take that off.  Also, i never lift off the panel. I pull it straight out towards me. That way you dont mess with the clips. You just push the panel in towards the door.

I would just bite the bullet and buy the new panel and do the work yourself. You're a mechanic should be a breeze. After all isn't the truck brand new? Why would you want a junkyard piece in a brand new truck.

I know I wouldn't .

Couldn’t agree with this more. Look online for the part and see if you can find it for less. DIY for the install.

brand new trucks get wrecked everyday, just because its from a junkyard doesn't mean its old or nasty. If i can save a hundred bucks and it be the same quality that seems like a smart decision especially on a low wear item like a rear door panel.

If you find a panel at a junkyard that is in perfect condition, whats the issue.

I just swapped out my chevy dash cluster with a Denali cluster. The truck had 49k on it when it was wrecked. Heck, brand new trucks get wrecked and stolen everyday. Heres my truck. Its a 14 ltz ccsb 4x4 5.3 with 88k on it now. Would you mind having a part off if it if fit your truck if you saw this wrecked in a junkyard?

Off of the topic, that's a really good looking truck! I remember a couple of months ago when mine was clean....

Try GMPartsdirect.com, they usually have some of the best prices, but shipping might get you though.
