We ordered a at4 for our Daily as the duramax is just a little to much truck for when we go to the city, not to mention the regens and fuel consumption when in town. Our last 1500 has a 6.2 and it was a demo. It didn’t have a cc but after 15000km the intake looked like it was 5 years old. I want to make sure I have a cc on before I take delivery this time around. As an aside, the your L5P dmax has an oil separator. L5P is first dmax to have one.

Does anyone have any more different brand catch can installation photos? I'm finding a bunch of nothing online for the 5.3 T1's ADD-W1? UPR? Elite Engineering? McNally? I installed the elite engineering can I removed from my 2015 5.3 onto my 2019 5.3. I didn't want to mount it on the firewall because I'm short and don't really want to unbolt the can to be able to empty and clean it. So I just set it in a little gap next to the air filter box. Not elegant but it's a snug fit and doesn't move around and super easy to lift up and take apart. I've since removed it because I keep taking my truck in to have a vibration diagnosed. This photo is after about 1000 miles. Not a lot but I mostly like having a can installed because it keeps the throttle body and intake clean.
Zach-91 Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 (edited) Here's some photos from the install. The hose connections are in slightly different locations from the previous gen 5.3 but still close and easy to find the PVC hose that you pull out. Edited February 23, 2020 by Zach-91 1
seniorjumper82 Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 I have the UPR one on my 2019 6.2 and was easy to install. I’ll try and get some photos tomorrow and post.
Texasdeere Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Thanks Zach, I'm definitely putting on a catch can now! Looking forward to the UPR pics Seniorjumper82 1
Texasdeere Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Looks like UPR just updated their website. Unfortunately it doesn't look like they offer anything for the 2019 5.3? I wonder what is so different about the 6.2 and 5.3 hook ups for a catch can?
seniorjumper82 Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 As promised. Here is the UPR one for the 6.2.
Luckyfd Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 I have the 5.3 and purchased the JLT catch can. Installation was easy and it is collecting oil as designed. The price was really nice! $149 and free shipping

Texasdeere Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 UPR makes one specifically for the 19-20 5.3 now. I ordered one today.

I don't know too much about engines but I am interested in doing this install. Can you advise me on the advantages of the UPR vs the JLT version? I see the that the JLT one is much smaller. Does that matter? Also, is it worth it to pay the extra $150 for the UPR dual valve version vs the single valve one?
Texasdeere Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 (edited) The UPR I bought is the single sided $200 version. https://uprproducts.com/19-20-gm-chevrolet-gmc-truck-5-3l-single-valve-oil-catch-can-separator-plug-n-play/?_ga=2.152360185.1792572736.1587132329-469327756.1586022756 About $50 more than the JLT. The UPR looks to have more storage capacity and the hoses look more factory too. On mine the hoses are a little too long but I'm sure they would be easy to shorten. I will probably shorten the hoses when I do an air intake kit. The factory air box hide the hoses now. I'm no expert but the dual set up seems a little excessive for stock use engine. I would stay away from systems that put the recovered oil back into the engine. Edited May 16, 2020 by Texasdeere 1
