Fellow GM Pick up owners,

I have a 2019 Sierra LST and w/apprx 4,500 miles on it an the brakes started squeaking at about 4,300 miles.  It is extremely loud at times can't understand how this could happen with $50K  brand new vehicle.  Frankly, its a joke and no wonder people keep buying F150's or imports.  GM needs to step it up!  I am a loyal GM vehicle owner from the time I got my license at 16.  That's equates 37 years now.   Brought to dealer and they confirmed they heard it and stated that it was pretty loud.  They also believe it is coming from the front.  However, I thought it sounded like it came from the rear.  Either way very disappointing that an American car manufacturer continues to have issues like this.

Enthusiast,

I get what your saying.  Plus, if they keep manufacturing vehicles with stupid issues like this, they may need another bail out from us taxpayers.

I may end up just doing that.  However.... Why should anyone have to do this on a brand new fairly expensive vehicle.  If I wanted a fixer upper or used vehicle to tinker with,  I would have bought one.

I don’t understand such anguish over brake noise. Just put some ceramic pads on it and be done with all the drama.

Because I hate the brake fade of ceramic pads and plus the noise stops once I’m out of my driveway really doesn’t bother me it squeaks the first 2 times I hit the brakes lol. Always take it apart and clean it and put some pad grease on it too if it really bothered me.

It’s not fade. It’s a softness. Just buy a harder ceramic pad.

I brought my truck in today for the rear window leak and also this rear brake noise. My dealer has been awesome in all aspects of issues I have came across. Short of the story is they said my rear rotors were glazed over so they are gonna replace them free of charge and see if that solves the issue. Will keep you updated once parts get installed.

If that’s the case we can sand the glaze off at home.

Purchased a 2020 Silverado 4x4 and having this same type issue, truck makes a grunting sound then squeel first thing in the morning. have already been in the shop 16 days of the first month i purchased it for an engine issue.

Now with 4,000 miles it has a brake issue. GM gave me a 6year 100,000 mechanical warranty after the first issue. Should have pushed the issue to have the truck replaced.

I have a 2019 Silverado Trail Boss LT and the brakes have been squeaking for the past 7 months.  They squeak all the time throughout the day whether it's cold, warm, wet or dry.  Doesn't matter what the environmental circumstances are.  I took it in back in August 2019 and they said they are acting like they should due to the condensation.  Ohhhh K...  I took it back in beginning of October for Oil Change and Squeaky brakes again.  They said they couldn't replicate the issue. Hm... Did you try?  I am so fed up with the squeak so I took it back in in December.  They finally replaced the front pads and spun the rotors.  Still squeaky.  I have had it back in twice since then. They tell me they couldn't replicate the issue.  I have sent them several videos of the squeak...  They agree, it's bad.  They finally ordered back pads this time and hope that fixes the issue.  They also mentioned that they have had a few other new trucks come in with the same issue.

I don't understand how some of these comments indicate to just sand off the glaze from the rotors, buy different pads, lube or do some other DIY band-aid fixes.  These are NEW TRUCKS and you shouldn't have to deal with that.  If it were an older truck, yes, I'd probably buy different pads or DIY something at home.  it's principal!

It’s easier for most to do work like this at home on the weekend than it is to deal with the dealer.

I've got a 2019 trail boss with the same issue, took the thing apart last night because I believe it's the drivers side rear to lube it up and found there to be an electronic piece between the pad and the rotor. I'm 90% sure this is what's causing the noise but not sure what to do yet. I think it's part of the pad life meter.....

I have a 2020 Chevrolet 2500 custom. Brake started squealing about 11,000 miles. 13000 miles and took it in for a rattle under the front end. They could not find anything took it to a different dealership. Told them about the rattle under the front end and the brakes squealing they had my truck for a couple days change the pads out still cannot find the rattle. Took the truck back last week 25000 miles they said they drove it but when they drove it they only did it for about 3 miles. Picked up my truck they said there's nothing wrong with the brakes and they can't duplicate the rattle. So next week make you an appointment with a different dealership. Have been in contact with GM. We'll see if this other dealership can get this problem resolved. But I have noticed that a lot of these new Chevrolets are having brake issues with squealing noises my opinion Chevrolet has really gone downhill.

I am having the same issues as everyone else. It has been to the dealership many times but they cant figure it out they hear the noise but are unable to fix it.  I just want it fixed since I traded my 2016 in for a new 2019.  I shouldn't be having problems.
