Hello

I am looking for a Cat-back system for a 5.3 with Kooks Headers installed.

I keep reading that the Corsa will be too loud with headers.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

I feel like people who install long tubes aren’t worried about sound levels to begin with. The Corsa sounds amazing. I’m going to keep mine on when I finally get around to installing my long tubes.

I have the Corsa CP14873 and I love the sound and performance!!!!  While the system is a little obnoxious on cold start up after about 30 seconds to a minute it quiets down to a nice rumble idling.  Now at WOT it sounds amazing.  Some will say its way to loud but I love it.  Id rather listen to my supercharger and exhaust than the radio (lol)

Mines perfect and I have the sport. Hardly any sound increase in the cab when cruising. WOT is an amazing sound. It doesn’t make sense to me when someone wants longtubes but is worried about sound. If you don’t like a loud truck then the long tubes aren’t for that person :/

Cora’s is just notoriously loud. I have a corsa sport on my ctsv with long tubes and it’ll shake the whole house on a  cold start. I don’t think it would be much different on a truck. But once it warms up and the idle comes down it’s not bad at all

as far as best exhaust goes..... the most free flowing you can get will be the best

Everyone is commenting about the Corsa without long tubes .

I have heard that before and I like the sound .

I am asking about the best cat back with long tubes , I heard the Corsa can be very raspy and drone with long tubes .

I'm wondering what exhaust sounds good too, I'm almost thinking of putting my factory 6.2 exhaust back on when I do headers.  I like loud, but the rasp and drone with some free flowing exhausts will not cut it for me.

That's exactly what I am thinking ...

I might install the headers and Y pipe with my stock exhaust for now and take it from there before I decide on cat back

Just add a resonator to the corsa system, thats if you already have corsa. If not, get a magnaflow catback that comes with a resonator

No, but thats my plan for when i get headers. There used to be a video floating around youtube of a guy with a corsa catback, headers and an aero resonator. Sounded great but pretty tame.

    • Are you going to take long trips in it?  If so, try out the seats in the various trims. For me the lower trim level seats were not comfortable.
    • I have a 2016 that I bought new and still own. I'm around 129,000 miles now. The biggest problem was a transmission failure about 2 years ago around 95000 miles. No warning, just failed while driving down a back road. A reman GM transmission installed and it's been fine ever since. A few other minor problems along the way. I am in no hurry to replace it. It's been paid off long ago and do plan on driving this as long as I can.   I will admit I am leery about all the additional electronics in the newer models and feel that it is just more potential problems. I think there's actually more than I would have wanted in this 2016 but so far so good. I think even if something major like lifter failure happened, it would still be cheaper to at worst, drop a new engine in than buy a new vehicle.
    • I’ve own several successful businesses. I’ve bought homes and lived in different states. I’d witness several generations buy homes and survive in different economic circumstances. You get awful sippy when people have different experiences than you do. You live a life. I’ve lived a life. It seems our experience has been different. You can point out generalized statistics. Some people learn how to thrive when the odds are against them. Living in different states does make a difference in a persons quality of life and economic outcomes and opportunities. That’s a fact Jack. It’s my truth, my life. Hard work and long hours the right environment made my families life easier. And yes moving to a different state increased the odds of that happening. Stats are generalized. People who thrive don’t make excuses. They beat the odds. Others get mad and point to those statistics. I guess that’s you. My post pointed out how you helped people beat the odds. Somehow your panties got in a wad. Go figure.
    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
