Well that sounds horrible. Just imagine having a wreck due to a bad battery. Doesn't sound right to me but then again we are driving computers today.

Lost brakes? Or just lost power assist? If you lost your brakes how did you stop it? Not like the old days when you can push the emergency brake pedal.

Man... I have lost brakes 2 times in my 18 now. I was hoping this wasn’t a problem in the 19s....

Did the pedal get hard or go all the way to the floor. A hard brake pedal means you lost power brakes, but you could still stop the truck without it. A brake pedal going to the floor is a more serious condition. The 2019's don't use the vacuum boosted system that the K2 trucks used. There are some early tuning issues with the 2019's electronic braking system. It's a totally new system from ZF and it had an early tuning issue. Overall, it's a better setup than a vacuum pump setup.

The pedal went all the way to the floor the first time, started picking up speed really quick as I was going down a steep dirt decline. Pumped pedal and it got EXTREMELY hard for a few seconds then power brakes return. Second time was down a very slight decline. I didn’t immediately apply brakes so it’s unknown if it would have went to the floor but the pedal was extremely hard again for a few seconds. They replaced vacuum pump after first one, said it was putting out low PSI. The second time the tech noted the pedal was harder than normal but they only updated the EBCM software. I guess time will tell.... :(

Yeah that's the nice thing about the new trucks. No vacuum pumps. Outside of an early software update, the electronic brake system seems to be working well. It's a ZF product so we have pretty good odds that it was work well. There will be a few early bugs but the system is smart, so it can monitor itself for developing issues. That was the issue of with the old vacuum pump setup. Sometimes you wouldn't know there was an issue until it was too late. Ford still uses a similar vacuum pump on their ecoboost engines and it's been a constant problem for them for years now.
