I have a 2017 Silverado 1500. I put a 5 inch RC lift in 4 months ago. 2 times now I have had to replace the stamped steel upper control arms due to ball joint failure.  RC customer service says they havent had any issues and dont make an aftermarket UCA to replace the factory stamped steel UCA.  I have called numerous brand aftermarket UCA companies the only thing I have found is uniball style that will be compatible  but I live in New Hampshire and hesrd uniball UCAs will get killed with the salt in a year.  Anyone have a solution to the UCA issue on the 2017 Silverado

Sorry to hear this. I know it sucks to have a newer vehicle that doesn’t perform the way it should.

I have installed at least a half dozen of the RC 5” kits (All Knuckle, no Brackets) in the past 3 years on Silverados and Sierras with no issues at all, even the upper ball joints. All the trucks had stamped steel control arms too. This kit actually has great angles and geometry, so I’m not sure what exactly is causing your issue.

Did you install it yourself, or have a shop do it? Are you noticing any premature tire wear on the fronts? Any abnormal noises, other than the ball joint, in the front end?

FYI the aluminum control arms have the same size ball joint as the stamped steel.

Good luck.

I went through same crap with RC 6” lift that everyone claimed “oh no never had that issue. Blah blah.” I ate up 2 control arms and my traction control would never shut up making a granny turn from light. I have LTZ Z71 with aluminum arms. I got same response from RC. I ripped that crap out and put BDS lift in. Best damn decision of my life.

No tire wear issue. Had a shop do the work. Everything is fine except the upper balljoints wearing out.  Maybe its because I did the bracket lift.  Only chose that one because it came with the RC skid plates.

They tried telling me it was because I was running 10 wide wheels with 12.50 wide tires. I said who puts a lift in and runs 9 wide like your saying to run. He had no response

He’s full of crap.

I’m running 18x9 with 35x12.50 and I had issues.

I hope you find solution. I ate the price. It was about $3500 to put RC on with my tires etc. I paid another $4k at another shop to toss it in trash and go BDS.

My wife still reminds me of my stupidity. She likes to remind me I put a $999 lift on a $50k truck.

RC is junk.  Sure, there are some lucky ones who use the crap and get by fine.  But A LOT have problems.  Just look at how many threads you see on the internet mentioning RC problems vs. problems with a BDS or Zone.  The numbers speak for themselves.  Just like stated above, if you have a $50k truck, spend the extra and put a quality lift on it.

Running the 5 inch bracket kit on a 2014.  50,000 miles on kit with zero issues and still running the same tires.

My a arms are steel. I installed the kit myself and then had it aligned.

I run the factory 20 inch rims though . There are zero reasons why this kit would ruin ball joints. If the installer did it correctly the factory angles are the same with the bracket lift.

Not sure about the 2017 but cognito and ready lift offer upper control arms for a 2014.
