To each his own. One could bring up 5.3 piston slap into your argument. :)

Lines like "Every time I have driven a 4 cylinder car with a few thousand miles on it.. they rattle and vibrate and sound like heck" are ridiculous.

"Nope." ?

The ignorance of armchair reviewers never ceases to crack me up.

I know my 2.0 LNF 4 cylinder leaves many V8 owners thinking WTF just happened...

You can have your 4 cylinders. I dont care how much power it makes... or feels like a V8. The sound of 4 cylinder is is terrible IMO. I hear ecoboost V6 trucks running around with aftermarket exhausts and they even sound out of place. 4 cylinder.... nope. ?? Every time I have driven a 4 cylinder car with a few thousand miles on it.. they rattle and vibrate and sound like heck.

Nope. Hahah.

The 4-cylinder in my car sounds amazing.

Nope. I love the sound and so do all my friends who've ridden with me. It's naturally aspirated, though.

You have to love how this thread has digressed into a "I would never have an I4 in a truck" thread.  Almost no one has ACTUALLY answered the OP's question about whether or not anyone else has seen a problem with the I4.

Well, except for the guy with the buyback.  Sorry Dude, Chevy screwed you.  But, they really don't seem to care.

Amazing how people have somehow lost the ability to stay on topic and choose once again to express their opinion of what engine "should be in a real truck".

+1 on the being off topic. Unfortunately every thread about it gets dragged down the same hole by ignorance.

I will say this about my case - I gave them ample opportunity, I told them I just wanted it fixed right (not to have a 1 month old truck with a hacked up harness), they refused. They ran themselves out of time, I asked for them to replace or buy back the truck and they declined - in spite of the letter of the law being on my side. I sued - and could have forced a buyback, however in MD the manufacturer can keep up to 15% of the MSRP back to cover costs. We went back and forth and I ended up getting enough of a settlement that I can walk away from this truck in December/January when the diesel GC comes out and not lose any money. They screwed me up front, but I feel like I won in the end.

Every 2-3 years I buy myself a new GM truck, and in the past 3 years I've bought a Colorado and 2 Cruzes (1 for mom, 1 for us). Because of one smarmy engineer, GM lost quite a bit of revenue from this 1 customer. Granted it is a drop of mist in a bucket but it is something.

To the OP's point - if GM will replace it with the later harness (which has an updated part number), I would bet it would solve all of the issues. At the beginning of my saga, the part number was the same - and during this fiasco it changed, but GM wouldn't reverse course and put the proper part in.

This is because they no longer care about their customers.  Though, I am not sure they ever did.

All that matters to them is profit.  Nothing else.

Sorry for contributing to the off topic-ness. Can't remember if I said it in this thread or another one but, if I were going to buy a brand new engine like the 2.7T, I'd give them 2 or 3 years to work out all the kinks. I'm looking at a 5.3 with DFM and I'm still waiting until 2020.

I took a risk in doing it. I have zero concerns with the durability of the engine itself, personally. It's about the most overbuilt thing I have seen - it's the stupid accessories/electrical that make me cringe. Well, that and the horrid transmission that I have grown to hate.

Per your earlier comment, looks like they've come up with a redesign for that harness, so others should be able to have confidence they can buy a 2.7T and not encounter that same issue. It's just too bad GM wouldn't fix it right for you.

The other reason I'm (now) waiting for 2020 instead of letting me dealership push me into a late build 2019 is so I can get the 10 speed. Maybe they'll pair that transmission to the 2.7 eventually too.

Ha. Everytime I have driven a 4 cylinder this has been the case. Seems to not be an armchair "review".  So say what you want, doesn't bother me. ?

BUT, since we have off topic replies here ( guilty ) Sorry about the issue you had.... hope that it does not become a large issue and GM gets it fixed. I agree... I would not want my harness lengthened either. Just asking for problem possibilities down the road, 100% possible.

*shrug* Your ignorance is your bliss.

You can't compare the NVH, power profile or drivability of a large bore, long stroke 4 cylinder with a 5,600RPM redline to another 4 cylinder of dissimilar specification.

Again, what I do know. I only have 2 engineering degrees, a background in automotive engineering, have been a member of the Society of Automotive engineers for 20 years. Oh, and I actually own the engine...

Sounds like an armchair review to me.

    • Maybe, but it seems he is the only one that has backed up data to prove what he is stating. I think he is doing this more because he enjoys it and wants to get the information out to us. He's got the knowledge and access to the proper equipment and having the funds doesn't hurt.  I would love to do what he is doing and would do it if and when I hit the Powerball.  I'm not a Tribologist by any means but love to learn what I can.   I would bet there would be doubting people out there if a completely independent lab with high quality work and highly respected in the automotive industry, put out information like this.  The world can't be pleased, one just has to take the information that they are given, do more of their own research to find actual lab data to back up what they are trying to figure/find out.  Most don't bother, they just want to believe what they first see.     I don't have the minimax but my 6.2 in my 2019 Silverado with 64k miles shows excellent UOA results with 0w-20 and for my own purposes 5w-20.  Since not much of a change using 5w. I liked the data sheet information on the SS 5w-20 and figured I would give it a try.  Still the same viscosity at 100℃.   In the end we all just do what makes us happy, life is too short to get upset over trivial social media.   On a side note, I do feel GM has dropped the ball and just cares about the bottom dollar and not quality anymore.  "Like a Rock" has been long gone.  Seems "Built Ford Tough" has as well.
    • Better than stock but that's like putting lipstick on a pig
    • Hello, my 3 month old Sierra Elevation wont recognize a trailer with electric brakes? All the lights work correctly, but no power to the brakes?   This is the factory installed brake controller. If you manually push the knob, the display shows the power % but does not light up like my 2022 silverado.   I have an appointment with the dealer, but was checking to see if anyone else has seen this issue.    Thanks,
    • Been using SS 0w-20 from new, but wanted to change to the 5w-20 because I liked the data on the data sheet, to me it seems like a little better product. But as you can see, not much difference. This is also with running a mix of 10 gallons E85 to a tank topped with 93. It isn't a flex fuel vehicle so any higher I get a CEL for running lean on both banks. Yes my mileage takes a hit. Instead of 20 mpg I normally get on trips I get 17mpg. This is also using EaO17 filter.  What is amazing is I have the AMSOIL cone filter on it since I have the GM Performance intake installed and that air filter has 44k miles on it.  I just take it out and shop vac it off once a year.  I use the upholstery tool on my shop vac.  Works well.
    • So, lot's of googling and reading, and a trial fit found, that indeed they hit the newer fatter caliper. I did some re-testing today, and found just 3/16" worth of washers was enough for the wheel to spin freely. I added 2 more on each, and again it spun freely. Tested lock to lock with the 4 washers, about 5/16" not quite the 3/8" Im considering, but pretty close. No issues. I've been looking at the BORA .375" spacers and using extended lugnuts to get back lost thread due to the spacer. All the ET lugs I've seen are all .33" reach inside the wheel lug holes. For those that don't like spacers or think they're unsafe, I think it depends on what type of spacers you're using and making sure you get good quality hubcentric ones, and if you're using bolt on ones, regular mainenance, checking the spacer lugs. Not wanting or needing that much spread. Looking for the minimum that will let me run these rims and tires.  it does look to stick out a little, but I really want put these on. and use the stock all-terrains in the winter.
