Tried the system out when I first bought my '18 Traverse.

 

Wife wouldn't volunteer for it, so I had to test  it the hard way. Took an old teddy bear, put a noose around his "waist" and my son pulled it in front of the car travelling over 5 mph. Teddy went under the wheels, RIP

 

A Chevy rep explained that the reason the test like I described wouldn't work was because their object recognition system: "looks for hands and feet", but he declined an offer for a retest to prove their system was foolproof.

If no dash lights on then it's working. It's not fool proof...far from it.
