If these trucks still were just only 6 speeds, the 6.2 has the advantage over the 5.3.  GMT-900 days and early K2 the 6.2 was the hot rod for sure.  8 speed on the 6.2 for 2015 made it more of a gap.

Late K2 and now T1 however, I think the transmissions have started to make the gap a little closer or at least the 5.3 much better to drive with the 8 or now 10 speed transmissions.

Not a T1 test, but here was pickuptrucks.com's shootout of max tow 1/2 tons.  The 5.3 NHT with 8 speed was 1.17 seconds slower to 60 than the 6.2 NHT 8 speed.  1/4 mile was .9 seconds slower.  Both trucks had 3.42 gears.  Kinda shows you how close the two have gotten with the same gearing and transmission.

Here is some T1 data to show that its even slightly closer now.

5.3 8 speed 3.23 - https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a25016363/2019-chevy-silverado-1500-by-the-numbers/

0-60mph was 6.1 seconds, 1/4 mile was 14.7 seconds.

6.2 10 speed 3.23 - https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a24851287/2019-chevy-silverado-pickup-high-country-by-the-numbers/

0-60mph was 5.4 seconds, 1/4 mile was 13.9 seconds.  So a difference of 0.7 seconds to 60mph and 0.8 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

So to put a spin on this, is 0.7 seconds to 60mph and 0.8 seconds to the 1/4 mile worth $2495 and 30-50 cents/gallon?

I believe it’s worth it ONLY if you’re planning on modifying it, lifting, tires, bolt ons “WITH TUNES” but not if you’re keeping it stock. But hey, to each their own. I’m only speaking from experiences.

You’re right about the gas only if you keep it stock cause mods will require Pwemium fuel [emoji6] unless you modify it with E85 with tunes. I’ve actually thought about doing it but E85 gives horrible mpgs and you can’t always find E85 while on long trips.

Are you adding these things cause I swear they weren’t there minutes ago lol. I think estimated mpg’s are incorrect, real world mpg’s differ from charts as climate, fuel and terrain plays a huge roll in your mpg’s, especially with lead foots lol

And that is why its always stated by the manufacturers and the EPA, "your results may vary".  The estimates are all averages.  The price in fuel used is an average as is even the gap for $$/gallon.  Just in a 20 mile radius of me the gap from 87 to 93 octane can range between 39-55 cents.

I’m at the cabin waiting for a couple of hung over buddies of mine to wake up and help me with the hog feed for tonight’s hunt. Little things excite me but shooting hogs with a couple of my new LWRC REPR’s makes it all worth while. Ok, I’m outta here, enjoy the site [emoji13]

@newdude

to me it is worth it, but after driving my stepdads new T1 5.3L with the new 10spd. I can say I would buy a 5.3L again if no 6.2L were available and the truck had everything I needed. It really impressed me and according to car and driver it’s a full second quicker than the old K2 with the 8 spd.  6.1 secs vs 7.2 secs
the old 6 spd clocked off a 6.7 secs. Again the 8 spd killed the trucks. And if you lift it and add bigger tires it’s only going to slow it’s performance down even more.  Not for me and 95% of lifted trucks never see hard off roading the the others who do take them off road, the factory height could go just as far as they do. It’s more for show than go!  Which is just fine because it’s their money and choice. Just not my preference.

btw....  who says you can’t drag race a truck? There is something cool about a fast truck that can also haul your family and the boat to the lake house. ??

Wait, your hunting wild hogs with an 7.62 assault rifle in a baited field?

:wtf:

When we hunted them we tracked them and used a 357 single action revolver or a bow.

What do you swat flies with?

Growing up in south Georgia, anything more than a bowie knife and a pit bull was unacceptable boar hunting behavior.

When we hunted them we tracked them with dogs and stuck them with a knife.  If you haven't wrestled a hog, flipped it by hand and taken it with a knife, your missing out :)

    • So you're saying toss the baby out with the bathwater? @txab posted article was her take on how AI can be used to manipulate pricing as it already does and has been rebuked by the judiciasry in housing. How AI can be and is used to maximize refinery or even Amazon operations all of which are true but because she is who she is; that makes what she says about what is true, false? Is that something akin to Pre-justice aka prejudice?    Look, I'm first in line to approach all information with caution just because we live in a world where people like to lie about someone or something with such a straight face and in such volume that it makes digging to the truth wearisome. Meaning I understand the skepticisms but if I were to toss out everything a person is for a view they hold then my pool of people to draw wisdom from would be non-existent and I'd be forced to reinvent the wheel daily. Not practical.    "Be innocent as a dove but as cautious as a serpent."    Test each word. Every good lie is part truth or no one would believe it. Find the truth in it and reject what isn't.    On this one, AI is being used to do what has been done by hand for hundreds of years already but at such speed, the point of a computer, that it is more easily monetized. This one wasn't that hard a lift.    I wrote a few formulas in a Lotus 123 program decades ago, a series of linked Macros actually, that allowed a daily inventory to be turned into a running P&L and production plan. Something that took three departments a week to assemble now took the time it takes to input the 'daily changes' in inventory. Later that was ungraded to the more powerful Excel program an and integrated with bar code scanning, inventory to supply was done once per shift. It had a huge impact on production scheduling, Seamless interruption flexibility, inventory error reduction, raw materials cost effective utilization and scrap reduction. Huge improvement in the bottom line. I spent months on that and AI could have done it in minutes. So yes, it not only can be used, they would be foolish to not try. The legality, ethics and morality are not the domain of AI. Humans need to keep a reign on it.
    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.
