Hey guys bottom seat warmers were bad in the truck I purchased, backs were still working.

I ordered the parts from dealership and just replaced the backs as well since I had the seats out already.

I am a little disappointed so far, I thought the warmers would he considerably warmer than they are.

I cant even feel them with my hand and I can barely feel them when sitting on them.

Is it possible I got bad warmers or is there anything else I need to check?

Install went fine didnt have any issues there

Owners would complain that the warmers don't seem to do much when warming up the vehicle but notice they heat up after sitting in the truck. Some owners would place a heavy item on the seat cushion such as a heavy book to push the leather down onto the element to try and gain some heat before they sit in the truck. I live 8km (5mi) from town and I am usually turning mine off or to the low setting after about 5km or 5-8 minutes or they cook your butt. Not sure what could be happening there, did you install them upside down perhaps?

After driving it longer today I realized it just takes longer to warm up, although they are definitely not as warm as I expected.

Definitely not upside down, went in exact same way the old ones came out. I think their just cruddy designed seat warmers compared to other vehicles I have driven

There were several complaints about this over that past few years. People would remote start their truck and then go put their hand on the seat and not feel anything. I think mine get plenty hot (cloth seats) and I can usually tell they are on after remote starting, but I never even turn them on after I get in because the truck is warm enough already. I probably used the passenger seat warmer more often to keep pizza hot, lol.

I think the seat padding just separates the heat elements from the surface, so you don't feel it until the padding is compressed by your posterior.

Had mine replaced under warranty.

Even the newer elements do take a bit to warm up.

Not long though. Maybe 3-5 minutes once you sit down.

My 05 Avalanche would warm well in as little as 1-2 minutes

This is brilliant. I would have never thought of it.

I've read multiple places that the seats won't heat up without someone in the seat. Which doesn't make sense as there is a setting to turn them on with remote start. Mine will roast you out, but I can tell you during remote start they aren't the warmest thing. Typically after the remote start cycle and 5 minutes down the road they're warm enough I turn them off.

on mine, the back will boil an egg in water but the seat will only get hot every now and again it seems, but when it does warm up, watch out.

Its not that they don't turn on. They do turn on, but think of it like they are covered in insulation. You don't feel the heat on the surface of the seat right away, you have to compress the padding to feel the heat which is inside the pad. If the heat elements were right on the outside cover I think they would be too easily damaged, so i'm glad they are buried in the padding.

This explanation makes more sense that what I've read before. I always felt that the seat was slightly warmer after a remote start than without it.

I will say though, the seat warmers in my wife's ram put the chevy ones to shame...

Cloth or Leather seats?  I had a 2015 Sierra that was cloth and the seat warmers did not seem to get as warm as the ones in the 2018 Sierra that I just got a couple weeks ago with leather.  They were better than not having seat warmers in the 2015 but I usually have to turn the ones down on the 2018 after only a few minutes, they seem to get very warm very fast.
