Hello,

i have a 2018 GMC 2500Hd 6.6 equipped with HID head lights. i am finding these lights to be very poor quality. i cant  see anything at night when i am driving. event he HIGH beams are no better than the LOW beams. i am shocked! is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

my buddy has a 2017 chevy high country and his lights are amazing. his are a yellow OLD school type color and mine are a new blue looking color.

my question i swap out the bulbs for a different color or is it more complicated than that?

Mine '18 has the factory LED setup and they are great.  Look into retrofitting those.

Did you buy the truck used?

i believe you have the same headlights as my ‘14 slt. In which case the oem color is not blue at all. It’s fairly yellow. They are indeed horrible headlights but you might have aftermarket bulbs

Go to fastheadlights.com and get the hylux ballast and 35w morimoto bulb. The oem projectors are fairly low quality but upgrading them might be more labor than you are looking for. You could start with just the ballast and the bulbs.

the owner of that site is a forum member here

i bought the truck new last year. it is indeed a blue-ish to white color. they are not yellow or even close to being yellow at all. my buddies chevy has the yellow OLD school color lights and this is what i am looking for.

i will have a look at the website - thanks

They're CLEARLY NOT aftermarket lights, but they're the furthest thing from "shitty"...

if he's asking about 2500s, there is a whole different forum for those vehicles.

so, when you're in the 1500 forum and posting about HID headlights, expect a 1500 guy to reply about 1500 stuff..

if you're looking for only 2500 replies, move your mouse to the correct forum next time, KTHXBYE..

So he put it in the wrong forum and you can't read, sounds like you both need some help...

At the top (close) of the page, click on the forums tab, rather that just letting it drop down.

This will take you to all of the forums (different vehicles) on the site, you will know you are there because the page will different from where you are at now.

    • Howdy folks,   Recently I pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain (part numbers coming soon - will have to disassemble), and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets).   On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash for the heating element.     No problem… or so I thought.   I used an “Add-A-Fuse” at my heated steering wheel fuse location, which has voltage, but no wires. I ran it to the positive of the heated steering wheel (Violet/White), and took black to ground.   Hooked up the battery, turned the truck on - no heated steering wheel. No button backlights. Was pleased to see that my cruise control was working though.   Read a post suggesting reversing polarity, so I gave it a shot. Violet and White to ground, Black to power.    Aha! Heat! But I seemingly can’t turn it off AND still no backlights on any of the buttons.    Checked all fuses, everything is still in good order. I’m stumped.   Does anyone have any insight? If so, please share!
    • I'm about 1800 miles into my last oil change, and yesterday a message appeared saying oil life was at 77%. Not sure why it popped up but I think all of these electronics could be susceptible to solar flares or somesuch. I change my oil right at 3K each time, and that was the first time in 10870 miles that message came up. Strange thing is that it showed on the screen at all since I don't drive with that sort of info displayed on the DIC.

    • Checked the pads today and there's plenty of meat on them. If the message keeps coming up, I'll just answer YES that the pads were replaced and wait for the squeal.
    • Welcome to the Forum! Always post the code definitions along with the codes. there are over 18000 possible codes, no one remembers them all and most will skip over your post rather than look them up
