My 2020 2500HD gas sounds like the fuel pump or something similar starts up when I open a door. Is that normal? I only notice it when it has been parked in the garage for a while and I go out after it has been sitting for a while. It also did it the other day when I shut the hood after it had been left open for a few hours.

Yes, if the truck has sat for a decent amount of time, the pump will prime back up at first unlock. Only after it's been sitting still for a while. Merry Christmas, as well!

Thanks! I assumed that it was normal, but figured I would ask. Merry Christmas to you as well!

Does anyone hear static at idle with radio off and air off? Sounds like noise coming from the speaker or behind instrument cluster. Even changes/increases with engine rpm until it stops when rpm is up around 2k. Sounds like speaker static up on the dash. Can hear it at stop light or in driveway.

My '18 does that, I wondered what the noise was when opening the door.  My '15 did not do that - both 6.2 engines.

Curious, why the interest in learning more - is this not supposed to happen on an '18?   My comment wasn't a concern just and observation.

Mine does it too. With all four doors and the tailgate. It’s my least favorite thing about my truck so I guess that’s not bad.  It’s so annoying because it will sometimes do it a couple times if I’m loading my bed and also opening doors. If it only did it with drivers door once it wouldn’t be too bad but why all the doors? Is someone going to enter the rear door or tailgate to start the truck?

At least this time you're letting folks know that their information will be shared. Wish you had let me know when I bought my truck that you would be sharing my driving info with my insurance company. Not sure I'd trust GM with any further information about me or my truck at this point though.

Sheesh. This is why I can't take this lip service seriously when they don't even know how their own vehicles work.

Driver Door Open Prime (DDOP) or Wake-Up Fuel Pump Prime (WUFPP

TL;DR: This is by normal and by design. Beginning with 2017 MY vehicles, the fuel pump will prime in anticipation of a engine start/ driving event.

Then it should do it upon opening the drivers door only. Mine does it with all four doors and the tailgate. Supposedly normal. Is someone goi by to start the truck from the truck bed?  It is a bit annoying imo.

2017-2018 are drivers door; 2019+ are any of them. So going by your avatar, I'd assume you have a 2020+ HD. My '21 behaves the same where if any door/ tailgate is opened after some time of dormancy, the fuel pump will prime.
