HID/LED license plate bulbs

Seems like everything on my 2020 AT4 has HID/LED lights except for the license plate. Has anyone changed out the bulbs if so which ones did you use and where they easy to change out?

I've got LED bulbs, but when I went to put them in there was no way I could reach the socket.  It was blocked by the receiver and other components.  Unlike my 2016, which was wide open and it was easy to replace the bulbs.

I tried too and couldn't do it. Some on this forum say it's not that hard. Maybe using long needle nose pliers?

Definitely possible but not without some effort. I used Philips LED bulbs that have a cool white color and match my upgraded reverse LED bulbs on my 2019 Silverado LT.

I’ve done it on my AT4. Not bad at all if you’re used to working on stuff. You do have to bend and twist a bit but overall no big deal.

FYI, these will throw a code in the ECU but not a dash light. When my dealer had issues with the back up camera they replaced my LEDS with conventional bulbs to Eliminate any possible issues. They gave them back to me to put back in but just told me about the code as an FYI.

Thanks for all the replies. I’ll give it a shot. Why wouldn’t this be done at the factory? Doesn’t make much sense to me but then again it is GM.

Can we talk you into a night photo to see how they look?

Drivers side was easy, passenger side was not. I ended up removing the entire bulb holder on the passenger side (1 bolt).

I bought these lights from LASFIT... It seems like a very high quality item. https://www.lasfit.com/products/t10-194-168-led-exterior-interior-light-package-of-4?variant=31256586059860

I don't have any pictures without the putco blade on right now, but you can see how well the dealer plate is lit up, which is only light up by the license plate lights.

Did they say why the code? Does not make sense to get a code through your license plate lights?.

Maybe I’ll give these a shot, as they claim to be “code free.”

My friends RAM wouldn't work with LED's in the license plates but I gave him the 2nd set and they work in his ram where no other LED's had before. Also, updated my post above with a picture to try and help.
