So are you using Wix XP or the Amsoil oil filters?

 

Went back to Amsoil after two separate XP filters kept leaking requiring lots of over tightening. Bet it was due to the super lubricity of Amsoil on the outer filter ring lol!

After filling 7.4 quarts, install the rubber fill plug and the heat shield. Ok all done! At this time you’ve made a damn mess so I brake clean the exhaust pipe and transmission pan at this time. And

I replaced filter and fluid today. Used the transmission pump to pump most out from cooler line. sucked out some more with extractor from fill hole, and got a little more when I dropped the pan.

I followed tlaw91’s procedure and a YouTube video and changed my 8l90’s filter and fluid today.   I had dealer do the first time at 45k.  34k later it’s my turn.   I bought a fluid

I've never had a leak on a Wix XP filter.  But I do notice lower oil pressure with them than I would expect.  I'm about to try out the EA filters.

Same exact thing happened to me with the XP, freaked me out. Amsoil filters keep my oil pressure at approximately 37-43psi, 43-45 higher rpm [emoji6]

Personally, I’ll NEVER switch again. Because I’m using Amsoil Filters I’ll be changing my oil every 5K miles. I know, should go longer, just me and how I do things. Got this from my Service Manager today, minimum oil pressures for my 6.2

What’s makes amsoil products better compared to Lucas or what I’ve used for past 20 years, Mobil one, or what all reviews say nothing better than ac Delco

 

Is 10sp pretty much same as 8 speed

I told him I was getting 10psi higher at full throttle and he said that’s excellent [emoji1303] and also asked if I was still using Amsoil, I said absolutely, he said that was great. As long as I have receipts of my purchases then everything is good for just Incase GM wants to see oil change maintenance records in the event of any issues. HA, not while using Amsoil!

Taking it in next week for a Transmission checkup, he’ll be running diagnostics on it making sure everything is as it should be....

Btw, black02silverado is an Authorized Amsoil Dealer, excellent guy!

Not a good idea discussing about it here, insecure Trolls from every crack and crevice pop out. Black02silverado would be the best to ask, he’s an expert in the field. Trolls complain whenever something is mentioned that’s not an over the counter product.

Yes, I've been using black02silverado for 6 years now for my Amsoil products.

If it’s sold at Walmart or at your local automotive parts store it’s an over the counter product. Ordering it and having it delivered to your door is not an over the counter product. Capeesh?

I live in small town america, when I say small I mean small, 500ppl, we have a gas station/auto parts/oil change/tire rotate store that still pumps your gas, he has an amsoil salesman, so to me it’s over the counter, he comes in every week, the station has 90 year olds that still swear by the stuff for every change, I just never knew what the draw was becuase it’s far more expensive than OTC

Gotcha. It’s for those that want to give the highest amount of protection available. It’s been around for years and still blows away everything in the market today in Engine Protection.

They can it be mixed with fluids already in the vehicle like if I do the filter change on the TB every 25k or so

      2020 Silverado 1500 8speed gm needs to recall transmission

      I have A 2020 1500 5.3 8 speed. LTZ. Transmission problems since 60,000 miles. Started when I go to store in morning to get my morning coffee before work leave truck running get back in put it in drive/ rev no movement step on gas a little slams into gear. Put in neutral step on gas little shake then put in gear and gose.  Shut truck off start .. ok now at stop light stop truck after a few seconds feel a little kick if that doesn’t happen stuck in 3/4 gear shut truck off wait few seconds and start usually ok again. If you down shift manually ok as long as you get into 1st before stop. If not it kicks . I WANT A NEW TRANSMISSION. Now I want a new truck it just hit 80,000 IDK IF ILL BUY CHEVY CAUSE THEY STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM AND REFUSE TO RECALL . Oh I’ve changed the fluid and filter 3 times now. And yes used mobile 1 not ac/delco cause it’s not meeting the requirements that mobile is did use ac/delco filter

      While waiting for parts I have been working on installing the AC compressor, new accumulator, and orifice tube. Also changed out the high side ball valve (original). The orifice tube that was in there wasn't too bad. Slightly dirty, a little bit of junk, but not blocked. Glad I changed it out.   The accumulator, which should have been a 5 minute job, may have just burned $50. Put some PAG in it, wrote the date and mileage on the side, fresh o-rings and gooey'd up the threads and rings with Nylog. Got everything connected and snugged and was going to vacuum down the system, and....   My manifold gauge won't fit on the port. It's not an R12 service port. It LOOKS like an R134 service port but the diameter is a hair too large. There's a sticker on the accumulator that says it's designed to be used with R12 and R134a systems only. So it's not R1234yf. Even if I reduced the diameter slightly with a file, the shoulder on the port is too large so the quick-connect valve won't lock on. I'm stumped. It's going back, and 50/50 on if they'll give me a refund.   Also, I did a fuel pressure test.... Key on, the gauge spikes to about 60psi and quickly bleeds off, like 2psi per second. The fuel isn't going into the plenum, no smell, starts fine, so I'm guessing there's a bad check valve in the pump and the fuel is just draining back into the tank. oh, hell. But, it shouldn't be a problem, pump primes just fine and the truck starts right up. It just means I can't really ever use fuel pressure to verify a leak at the injector or intake.

      Got this yesterday out of nowhere. Truck is a 25',6.6 gasser with 8k miles.  Only semi anomaly is that the truck had been sitting, uncranked for 6 days. Elec Stability Control showed immediately upon cranking, not while driving. No drivability issues, just the message. Battery didn't seem to be weak when cranking over.  I drove it, killed it, let it sit a few hrs with no avail.  Truck is 100% stock. No damage.
