Evap Vent Valve Solenoid (Filter Placement)

So the Evap Vent Valve Solenoid arrived today and all looks good except for it comes with an external filter. There doesn't seem to be any information online about where this filter should be placed and what line should be ran to it. My first guess would be 5/8 heater hose but has anyone done this fix, or have an idea of where the retrofit filter is to be placed, and if there is a certain distance it is to be mounted away from the other components?

From the factory they install it above the transmission, between the floor and outer shell. When they first separated the filter from the solenoid, that's the location recommended it for the retrofit. Some people have installed in other locations. Some even have placed it in the engine compartment. Maybe some others will remember or will chime in with other suggestions.

 

Yes it is 5/8" heater hose that is used.

 

You want to locate it somewhere that is away from dust and water as much as possible.
