Variants is the answer to that question.

Those that were not vaccinated allowed a fertile field for variants to become. The sole purpose of a variant is to defeat WHATEVER has been placed in it's way to replicate the original strain. Holding out not only endangers the unvaccinated but the vaccinated as well with variants that defeat the vaccine...given enough time and....OPPROTUNITY. It's a virus. It doesn't not become nor can it be 'frustrated". 

 

One of two things is possible. Either enough people get vaccinated soon enough to interrupt the OPPROTUNITY for the virus to 'become' something even more lethal OR enough people die to interrupt that pathway or any combination of these two. Almost 8 BILLION people on this planet. That is a lot of virus highway miles.

Seems we learned nothing and in so we again lead the world in the third wave of cases and deaths. AGIAN!!

Flu shots are 60 percent effective. The booster shots there’re potential offering are the same shots, rinse repeat. There’re arguing if there’re even needed. Maybe for the elderly. Amazingly my trip across country potentially saved me from covid. 10 family members I see regularly got it the two weeks I was gone. I believe everyone eventually will be exposed. Probably already have.

A few weeks ago my personal mechanic quit wrenching and went to work for the power company. He was the second best wrench at Deegan's. The owner is now swamped, two weeks out and looking for a turn key guy that won't sink his reputation. Tall order. 

 

That means, for now, I've had to reopen my tool chest and dawn my coverall's once more to do the simpler tasks. Oil changes. Tune ups and the like. Yesterday I changed the rear diff fluid in Dizzy. Simple enough task even an old guy can do it.  Went off without a hitch BUT boy am I sore today. Like wake up at 5 am, where is my Advil sort of sore 

 

I use to say: "Of all the things I ever lost I miss my mind the most". But I think it may be my youth I miss more. I mean the wife has taken over my thinking for me anyway. 

 

Two more hours sleep and some coffee and I'm 18 again.

My personal health professional of many years is retiring today.  I went for my annual check-up yesterday to hold me over until a replacement is found.  However, general practice Doctors, like good personal mechanics, are in short supply!   I'm likely going to have to line up with the others at a clinic (like my truck  )  and hope for the best! 

The current opportunities for those starting out in the workforce are incredible.  The endpoint in my career is now where a legally qualified person with minimal experience could begin!  I know my kids with a potential of 20+ more years in the workforce have their eyes wide open.  Circumstances vary depending on where you live but these are not "normal" times.  If you're enjoying additional leisure home time or pandemic funding keep your sights on opportunities.  Your enthusiasm and the current job market may put you in position for a job opportunity inconsistent with your experience and training!

All you have to have is a covid passport. About half of women of childbearing age are leaving the medical field rather than get the shot. Entry labor type occupation such as lawn, construction, equipment operating, housekeeping, you get the idea. Are going to be over saturated because of overrun of our southern border.  Of course they don’t need the covid passport. If you want to see what the future looks like take a trip down south. No worries if you have the vaccine, your protected. May want to make sure your other shots are in order. Like the op says if you’re up to date on the covid shots. Jobs are plentiful. And in some states ( you know the ones) you can live a normal life. And even go out to eat. As long as you don’t mind the wait. I really don’t know what to believe anymore. I just saw a report by people who should know that the vaccine actually caused the new covid strain. That now infects the young. The truth is of course no one really knows. I try to read everything available during my covid spare time. The problem seems to be not all information is available.

What’s worse during a “public health crisis”…having half of your staff unvaccinated, or losing half your staff because they don’t want or need the vaccine?
 

Think the people pushing that mandate would decline treatment from an unvaccinated doctor while they’re having a heart attack?

I definitely would be upset to get a vaccine or any violation of my personal space against my wishes.  However, it is fascinating to me how this vaccine is against anyone's wishes.  I personally know adults terrified of the actual needle but some people are expressing worry about the content.  I have a family member who had a horrible reaction to their first dose and can't have the second but she isn't opposed to the vaccine.   Today we're having a federal election.  We'll witness another example of where there is a difference in what people believe. For yuks I sometimes try to imagine what it would be like if we all interpreted information the same way.  A red Chevy pickup in every driveway would certainly be pretty boring!

There’s some worry about women of childbearing age. And the effects. There’s been heart inflammation of the young. They can’t decide on the booster shots. The awards show last night with very little mask wearing. Governors, mayors other officials at parties sans masks. And medical workers quitting their jobs rather than getting the shot. I got the vaccine my wife of 47 years will not. I think there’s room for doubts. And good reason.

We just finished our federal election and will be glad to see the ads disappear from our evening television viewing.    The political advertisements would be fine to watch if they were about fresh ideas and solutions and not about throwing dirt on their opponents.   The other day I went to the local lab to have my bloodwork done following my annual check-up.   The nurse asked me if I will be able to find my results on line.  My response was, "I know my wife can, she knows how to find everything that's wrong with me."   The nurse kept breaking out in laughter thinking about my response.   I am guessing but she was probably experiencing some personal reflection.   Covid19 and retirement have put tremendous pressure on me and my wife to enjoy a lot of extra time together.  We have learned through trial and error that when you celebrate the good in someone else, you elevate yourself!

I feel your pain. We’re suffering through no personality as opposed to a strong personality. Never heard anything about accomplishments or lack of. Just I will do it better. Fail. Just personally. After 47 years I never get enough time with my wife. I enjoy every minute. The time is flying by.

I live in a place where we enjoy four distinct seasons.  I need to have winter approved tires on my truck by Oct 1st.  The tread depth on my all seasons is questionable in parts so I could be ticketed or worse.   My research over the past few months has sold me on all weather tires as opposed to all season tires.   These will be an all-terrain LT tire in a plus size.  This will be a new look for my truck and I thought it would be appropriate to get my alloy wheels re-finished by a local mobile clinic.  The price they gave me was over 50% higher than when I inquired a few years ago.  This amount of money would buy me a new set of auto-store rims or make a significant dent in the cost of some nicer rims!  I then thought I may as well take this time to switch from 17's to 20's.  Of course the cost of tires increases with wheels size.   This insidious creep up the price ladder proved to be too much of a shock when my wife saw a price on my screen.  I guess those 20" honeycomb wheels wit 33" all-terrain tires will remain in my dreams!
