Donstar, be glad you don't have an HOA that would prevent a clothesline. Several friends are in that boat.

What's everybody paying per KWH for 'lectricity. Include it all.... taxes, fees, etc...

I pay 10.1 cents Per KWH

Used 3 times the 'lectricity this time period compared to last year. More over 100 degree days and the lack of rain pushes current use up. I have a creek that runs through my property so that's my irrigation source

When my current contract ends no telling what I'll be paying. 15.1 cents is the going rate right now

In the summer on peak I pay about 11.42 cents per KWH.

In winter months when off peak is usable while we are awake we average 8.6 cents per KWH.  Our ETS heater ( just one ) charges the ceramic bricks on the off peak at night and dramatically lowers our electric draw on peak. We have no air-conditioning at this elevation.  One 72" big ass fan in great room above the ETS heater moves the air enough only wall units employed in rooms at low settings.

A neighbor with slightly larger home installed US made solar panels on southern exposure roof, got a 20 year loan @1% interest and is selling back energy to our rural electric co-op for a net gain payment monthly. I am considering that, eliminates batteries and you get a big check back each year from co-op.  His loan cost $35,000 but he will net a profit on sale back to co-op.

The solar energy up here at 9000-10,000' is amazing even on cloudy days as I was ridiculed about before.....LOL

$150/mo is about average.

Had jury duty today for about 2 hrs. Made the first cut, got to the voir dire part of the show. Made the cut for the smaller jury pool. The Defense atty had an attitude while asking questions. Then the Judge shuts everything down and say the Defense has file incorrect paperwork and we can all go home. Guess the Defense didn't want to go to trial today

Paying for the rise in the cost of living isn't a problem for us. Do I like it? NO. Propane this this year will be the most expensive since moving here. My calculations show $1200 more for a year. Electricity also, $200 more. Food I don't want to know, gasoline the same.

Vehicles are only bought when necessary because we keep them a long time, not purchased to have the latest.

The profits from our investments during our long ownership of vehicles pays for the next vehicle.

Of course I'm still able to repair and maintain everything, my current repair is our fridges water dispenser.

Living through several dreamers that wrecked our economy we are prepared. A little common sense and happing across David Ramsey on the radio was the nudge we needed years ago. Not falling for the latest got to have trends. Like making your own coffee instead of Starbucks goes a long way. Being lucky enough to find the right partner for life. Saving, paying off your first house quickly is the key for the average wage earner. By the time I was in my mid fifties I paid off 4 homes and a condo. Now living in one and renting out the other. All while building a family business. It’s a lot easier when there’s two. The first step in a rewarding life.

Our judicial system is a joke IMO. One of my issues is jury selection, no picking jurors.

I'll stop there.

And yes, it's better than some.

OUR democracy is ugly.

Judicial systems in US have been biased by corporate influence and $$$..  Its a joke if we don't participate and also vote.  Some states like where Karnut lives have gone full authoritarian but thats a historical bent of that state. Molly Ivins said it well about that state.

"All anyone needs to enjoy the state legislature is a strong stomach and a complete insensitivity to the needs of the people. As long as you don't think about what that peculiar body should be doing and what it actually is doing to the quality of life in Texas, then it's all marvelous fun. " Molly Ivins

Sadly a lot of US states want to duplicate the stupidity there.  Karnut save your comeback, I get your POV. Its why you moved there.....LOL

I’m not alone it’s amazing the California plates I see daily. I relate to the Jonny Cash song. I've been everywhere man, this is where I live. Next question. If solar is the way. With the amount of out in the open subdivisions seems the panels are in the wrong place. They should be on the majority of houses. That would take care of the need for more major future power generation. Begs the question of Obama recent propane tank purchase. He has plenty of room for panels. WHATS THE DEAL. I was never much for do as I say not as I do.

What the Sixth Amendment Says

"In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence."

What It Means

United States Library of Congress, The Constitution of the United States of America: Analysis and Interpretation

The requirement of an impartial jury is secured not only by the Sixth Amendment, which is as applicable to the states as to the Federal Government,1 but also by the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment,2 and perhaps by the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment. In addition, the Court has directed its supervisory power over the federal system to the issue.3 Even before the Court extended the right to a jury trial to state courts, it was firmly established that, if a state chose to provide juries, the juries had to be impartial.4

Sure 30% of the country loves authoritarianism......  or is so ignorant of the Bill of Rights and Constitution they would have supported Hitler as a viable alternative to life liberty and happiness..... Gosh the trains run on time...

I  could care less what that Irishman Obama does.

Solar is saving Texas Tushies right now

That’s only because they pulled back on natural gas for solar. On my trips to Waco I pass a solar field. It’s in the middle of nowhere and butt ugly. Probably on top of a natural gas field a clean source of energy. That can be transported through a pipeline unseen ready anytime. Enjoy your solar especially under two foot of snow. Go ahead have the last word.

So the  former 1/2 Irish President is supporting the natural gas or propane industry and he's wrong? You have issues with staying on a consisten message don't ya?  Which you keep interjecting here.

BS no one in Texas pulled back from clean Nat Gas.  Thats ur majority power source , get two wheeled timmy to winterize it and you are good.

They did add solar and it's saving your AC bacon from frying. Butt ugly or no.

I WILL AGREE ( we agree Stan)!!!!

THAT SOLAR IS NOW WITHIN 0.2% as of today in producing energy but in winter of course that will shift.  See data below.

Yes, thanks.  We checked for any covenants or bylaws that may get in our way.  We have an eagle eyed neighbor who will point out anything that she feels is inconsistent with all of the other homes on the block.  She actually did speak to us after she noticed it and made the backhanded comment  that there is nothing stopping us.  We explained to her that we made every effort to keep it discrete and we will not leave clothes hanging when dry.   She was more supportive when we explained that we were  making an effort to reduce our environmental footprint.  Telling her that we soiled her pristine view to save a few dollars would have put her in attack mode! 😉

Often I watch the news and feel overwhelmed by the global crap taking place. The Ukraine situation is deplorable.  Last night on YouTube I stumbled upon a WWI training film on taking down a tank.  I thought some of the footage resembles the barbaric actions of this current crisis. It was awful a 100 years ago!    On a lighter note, I was in a local clinic yesterday waiting to have some blood tests.  While sitting, I observed a front desk staff member patiently and compassionately helping an Ukrainian refugee sort through her required paperwork.  I can't fathom the struggle this individual has recently gone through and I was overcome with appreciation on the treatment she was receiving.  I know you're supposed to respect the privacy of other patients but it was impossible not to see and hear this exchange.  When the employee had the patient all sorted out and on her way, I went over to the counter, apologized for eavesdropping, and then thanked her and gave kudos for handling this patient with such care and respect.  I hope I made her day a little better because she sure brightened mine!
