Has anyone had this issue?

I‘m thinking I have to use some double sided tape to keep this plastic insert to stay from popping out.

Its pretty annoying as I can push it in and it will stay, but after driving the top portion of it pops out.
No damage to the plastic or surrounding area, really not sure why this happened.

See picture.

As far as I know, it is fixed with nuts and bolts on both sides.
If the nut has came off the plastic mold, It can be happened.
Can you take a photo more inside detail?

There are no nuts and bolts on this assembly (at least not on a silverado).  I have over loaded my tailgate with lumber and when I emptied the bed and closed the tailgate it was popped out.  Mine popped right back in no issues since, I would go to the dealer before double sided tape.

I have the same thing.  It has popped out twice, and it doesn't fall open when using the Key FOB or button inside.  Of course the check it today and find no problem even when clearly didn't fall open when I showed it to the advisor...frustrating.

I had that happen soon after the dealer replaced the camera, and tailgate switch. They left the 2 10mm nuts loose!

then water got in, took out the cam again. They put in another cam, nut this time i remover the tailgate cover and added dielectric silicone to all plugs and switch, cam. Then added black RTV silicone to exterior of handle housing...to stop water from getting in.
