My 2020 Silao SLT was assembled at the end of March, just a few days before they temporarily shut down the plant. I love this pickup...It's my first truck and first new vehicle so needless to say I have been babying the thing since I bought it in April.

Well here we are not even 2000 miles later and my driver's side air is not blowing cool at all...passenger side is just slightly cool. Definitely not as cold as it should be. I took it to my  dealer and it's supposedly the evaporator. Honestly - I don't think my OCD can handle that invasive of a procedure. Of course it's a warranty repair, but is it worth getting a second opinion? Or should I just let it go and continue with the repair and hope for no squeaks/rattles...? Is this a common issue with the T1s?!

No it is not a common issue.  Go have a beer and tell your OCD to stuff it.  Everything will be fine.

I've seen it happen to a couple other people on here. Not a common issue, just bad luck. I would mention to shop manager how much you care about the truck and to please take good care of disassembly / assembly to prevent scratches and rattles. Then shake his hand and cross your fingers lol.

That's about all you can do.

Then sanitize your hands, get a covid test, and self-quarantine for 10 days. ?

I notice my truck takes a LOOONG time to cool down the air coming out of the vents, even when its only in the 80s.

My RST has done this about 20% of the time in the 18 months I’ve owned it. As soon as I put it in drive and get up to speed, the AC kicks in normally and never acts up again.

Like the OP, I don’t want my dash torn apart unless it absolutely has to. But it sounds like the OPs issues are worse than what I am describing, and I would definitely have the dealer service it.

Stop by the shop and take a look when they get it disassembled.  You would think they'd make it a little more accessible.

Yea I definitely plan on it as I'm interested in seeing the 'guts' anyways...

Lol you trying to give him a heart attack, he said he is ocd haha? There are pictures on here and can see why he is nervous, lucky the few who have had it done on here have had good luck getting a tech that cares and does a good job.

By the way this is a carry over issue from the k series trucks, we have had nothing but issues from the evap, compressor and condenser. I have had my condenser and all the lines replaced on my truck so far and like others here at times it takes the system for every to get cooling, usually takes more than idle for it to get real cold.

Express your concerns to your service advisor.  I did when I was about to have major surgery performed on my last truck.  The SA arranged an informal meeting between me and the technician prior to my truck going into the operating room.  I left the meeting comfortable and confident that my truck would be better than new... and it was!

If the person performing the work is a fatty that's almost a 100% guarantee of a poor job.

Lol, i have to agree with him though as if you are not under 150 lbs soaking wet, then i would imagine it will be tough to contort your body around to disassemble and reassemble without major discomfort issues.
