Hey guys new to the forum here, i have a 2014 GMC Sierra 5.3 RCSB on 2.5” king coilovers with camburg uca Running on 33’s and just ordered a 2.9 whipple supercharger for it and was wondering what Mods i will need in order to have it running good,, eventually i will max out my coilovers and go with 35’s i have a bout a 1-1/2” more to max them out, so far i have a k&n cold air intake and a Borla s-type cat back exhaust system tuned on 91 octane,

would I need to upgrade my fuel system/in tank fuel pump or should i bee good to go?
i hear the aeromotive 11540 kit is good enough but someone told me that i need to go with a 450lph instead of the 340lph Due to the starvation of the motors what do you guys think? Any help is appreciated,

thanks!

They are suppose to be a bolt on kit, you don't have to add anything else to make it work. You will be limited to pump gas only, no E85 because you will not have the injector headroom or likely enough fuel pump (both high pressure and low pressure).

Get the correct spark plugs, the ZL1 or supercharged corvette AC delco plugs should work or go with something a few heat ranges colder from like NGK.

It's designed to make another 120+ horsepower with the stock engine and stock exhaust.

Ah ok i see,

i purchased this fuel pump today and have it in hand Should i just slap it in to be on the safe side? I usually run e85 on my truck

Do you happen to have a part# to the spark plugs or what years of the zl1 or supercharged corvette plugs should i use

You don't have enough fuel injector to run E85 with boost. That would require LT4 injectors and a LT4 high pressure fuel pump.

I don't have a part number on the spark plugs off hand. The 2014+ supercharged corvettes would be what you need to know.

I would assume you are having this custom tuned as well. I'm not sure if it's included in that kit but I wonder if they supply the 2 or 3 bar MAP sensor.

And with the injectors and pump, it would require taking the supercharger off again if you did injectors/pump/lines later on because they under the intake manifold.

Yes it will be a custom tune,

im not sure what map sensor it comes with but,

i should just run it on 91 oct then right?

I have a Whipple on my 18 with also a cam and heads. Only upgrades I did was LT4 injectors and my fuel system is maxed out.  If you bought the complete kit from Whipple and don’t plan on doing anything else, you won’t need to change anything. Also, my kit came with new plugs

Nice, thanks for the info, i purchased LT4 fuel injectors and the LT4 high pressure fuel pump, also bought the aeromotive 450 in tank fuel pump, kinda had to upgrade everything since im planning on running E85

Do you have to do both high pressure pump(lt4) and low pressure pump in tank? In your case the aeromotive 450?

yeah the whipple kit should come with spark plugs. I should be seeing my whipple kit in a week or so for my 2017 Sierra 6.2. I cant wait. Are those 17s or 18 inch wheels?

Little update so I ended up just putting in the whipple without upgrading the fuel system, decided i wasn't going to run E85,

and yeah the kit came with spark plugs that we gapped to .20 i went with a custom tune, i had them gapped at .32 or .30 as whipple instructs but the truck would sputter, so my tuner decided to go with .20 and the truck runs flawless also went with the 4.125 pullet which put me at 11pounds of boost

-LT4 injectors
-LT4 HPFP but will need to grind the bottom side of the whipple unless you wanna cough up big money and get Lingenfelter’s HPFP.
-Long tube headers will drop your boost and make more power at the same time.
-535 in tank pump. Look up Jose Zambrano on FB. He make a direct drop in.
-E85 sensor, Jose also sell a kit. Easy plug and play
-NGK 6510 @0.025” or Brisk RR12. Also @0.025”
-katech 160 degrees thermostat
-trans T-stat mod. Free and easy. (

)
-make sure you have a good catch can and vent can. (Vent can is very important. Insufficient PCV will pop your rear main seal)

Optional
-Granatelli wires
-SmoothBoost to get rid of sensitive boost spike
-VAS traction bar to prevent Axle wrap
-driveshaft
-Stabilitrac bypass switch

Goodluck. It’s a huge money pit.

any chance he could just install the ZL1 or CTS-V ecu program into the truck and run great without a tuner and dyno work?

I'm going to say no.

Those cars are 6.2's and he has a 5.3, so there is a big difference right there. The PCM calibration wouldn't be enough either, the TCM calibration is built around the extra power of the supercharged engine so you'd want to tune for that.

Also none of the GEN V DI supercharged cars ran the 6 speed auto, they are all 8 speed and 10 speeds so you couldn't just flash a tune into the computer of a 6 speed vehicle. I wouldn't even trust it if you had a 6.2/A8 truck and wanted to flash in a DI CST-V file. Too much is different between the vehicles. Weight, drivetrain, axles, different pedals and driver demand needs between a car and truck. I'm sure the list goes on. Easier to just take the pieces you need and custom make the tune.
