So my 2020 RST 6.2L has the 9.76 rear and apparently you can only get 3:73 gears for it??? I need at least 4:88s to accommodate wheels & tires. Also talked to East Coast gears and they said the front cannot be swapped because the carrier is welded! Does anyone know if this is true? They suggested I put in a Dana 60 in the front and a 14 bolt in the rear???!!! Anyone know if any of this is accurate???

The ring gear is not serviceable on the front that is correct.  Not 100% on method of attachment however but you can't purchase the ring gear on its own from GM, you have to get a complete carrier.

Might have to change your mod plans.

What are you doing, 37's or 40's to need 4.88's with a 10 speed auto??

Gears are important but less important the more speeds the transmission has. The days of the 4 speed auto's that need 4.56's or 4.88's for huge tires are long gone.

You're pretty much out of luck, run what you got and deal with it or switch to 3.73's. Then tuning is going to cost you a nice chunk on money.

Well...I know I'm gonna catch A Lot of ****** for this but it's going up on a custom 18" lift with 44X19.50R26 Interco Boggers. I know one other person doing the same thing for a SEMA build. He said he had to change the whole front assembly and was gonna check on what parts the shop used? He said he has 4:88's...not sure how he got those in the rear or where he got them? I was thinking he needed one step higher than than the 88's. I also don't think he has the 6.2L or the 10 speed but he does have the 9.76. I'm not worried about tuning it...that's a given!

Uhhhhhh...??? Is that a thing, lmao!? Forgive my ignorance...I'm a Marine Corps aircraft mechanic. Can you fit that in there?

Yes. The 9.5” 12 bolt most of the 1500’s have is just a refreshed 9.5” 14 semi floater. Parts swap between them.

Meanwhile the 9.76” ring gear is just the biggest ring gear you can fit in the same housing. So you could “step down” to the 9.5” ring gear and get lower gears and lockers for the rear.

The front...maybe he used an older half or 3/4 ton IFS front axle adapted over?  They had lower gears available.

Hey "new dude" "AJM" why would they weld it and make it unserviceable?

Semper Fi Devil Dog!!! I'm a veteran too...6030 Aircrew "flight mech" KC130. Got out in 98'. Was stationed at Cherry Point...my ex wife was a Navigator on same bird stationed at Miramar before everything went to El Toro...then she went there after Cherry Point. Had quite a few friends that were Crash, Fire, Rescue...

CFR was our nemesis. Still have a H&HS Miramar CFR magnet that I acquired in a raid.

I was in Miramar ‘98-01. El Toro was closing in ‘98 as I got there. Helped in the unit moves to Miramar.

I doubt they’re “welded”. Do wonder if maybe the carrier and ring gear are one piece?  Have to find an exploded diagram.

Yeah...had that backwards didn't I...El Toro was closing and went to Miramar is what I meant... Guy from East Coast Gears said it is welded? I remember this one woman Marine that was CFR at Cherry Point...she was so ridiculously HOT! Everyone on the base was all over her, lol...surprised she made it, lol. Have any idea where I could get a Dana 60 & 14 Bolt...? I wonder if I could get "AnyLevelLift" to fit, lol? Trying to take this show build to the next level...I know it's a 1500 but it's actually my daughter's truck so it makes more sense....kinda, lol. The wheels are 26x16 Rogue 2-piece forged concave in total show chrome...takes 8 blanks to make them. They were going on a SEMA build for 2020 but there guy totaled his truck and SEMA never happened last year anyway. Got an incredible deal on them as they start at $12K.
