USB Port in Glove Box

Curious, what are you all use this for? I know someone will say you can use for anything like charging your phone or anything.. I'm just curious what do people actually use it for. I know of the summer I try to use it one time and I believe it was giving less power than I hope. The device complain about that port.

I know that some have used it to connect to their phone, mounted on the left side of the steering wheel.  But with mine, in my 15, I ran the USB cable into my center console, since I didn't have one in the glove box.

I've got a 128 GB USB stick with all of my music on it plugged into the glove compartment.  It never comes out except to take it in the house to add more music.

Similar to above, I have a cable run from the glovebox, under the dash and out through the fuse panel to my phone mount above the headlight switch.

So how do you play the music on the stick drive?

Mine's in the center console, since I don't have a USB in the glove box.

I play mine through the "Media" side of my radio, similarly to playing music off my phone via a USB cable.

What he^ said. Hit the media button until it says USB (or maybe whatever the USB's name is, I can't remember.) Then you can search by song/album/artist.  You can also use voice recognition by saying "Play song" or "Play artist" then, when prompted, the name of the song/artist. It does a decent job of getting it right.

Thanks, I'll have to give that a try.  I have never had any luck using a USB stick for anything yet including copying my waypoints.

Ditto on the music (thumb drive). Mine too remains in the glove box.

dash camera.

 

cable above the headliner, down the A pillar, and behind the dash. plugs into the outlet there and works great. out of sight, out of mind.

I am, now, using it for my once disliked CPLAY2air

for wireless connectivity to my iPhone.
For some reason, the device actually works much better than when I had it plugged into the console USB.
Go figure, who knew?

That is an awesome use for it!
If I had not already repurposed mine for the aforementioned reason, I would do that for a better dash cam install.
Instead, I have my dash cam wired as you mention, but going behind the glove box to a USB adapter in front of the console.
