why 3k difference between short and standard box crew cabs?

on GM site the price difference is massive between the 2.....usually only few hundred bucks, why is this?......because of the frame?

Think about everything that is longer.

 

Different length frame, likely longer fuel lines and EVAP lines, brake lines are longer, the driveshaft is longer. Then it's a totally different bed length and all that jazz, so more metal, more primer, more paint.

 

Is it $3,000-4,000 in raw materials, probably not but they gotta mark it up for the customer.

It’s still only a $300 dollar price difference on the SLT model. On the GMC site where you compare models it makes you think the price is more but on the standard bed model they default to a diesel model and put a few different options to drive the price up. If you price out separate you will see the smaller price difference. GM could make it easier and compare similar models but they don’t.
