In my case, at 94,--- miles, I wanted to change the pan itself as well as inspect what was in the bottom of the pan to determine if my converter was shedding debris and killing my trans.  So, leaving it hanging wasn't in the plan.

It simply took one ratchet strap pulling down the exhaust to the crossmember, without unhooking anything on the exhaust. I thought it was about the simplist way to deal with the exhaust.  No muss, no fuss.

Man that’s something my uncle would’ve thought of too. That was smart of you to think of doing that, now I feel I can tackle that job thanks 😊

Just bought the updated tstat, o-rings and gasket from Shea Chevy for about 60% less than local dealer was quoting me. FWIW to anyone shopping parts to update to the lower tstat housing.

Any chance you have the part number or specs for those o-rings? When I did mine, I couldn't find them listed and just reused the ones that were in there. So far they seem to be fine but wouldn't mind having spares just in case.

what I found was the following:

latest tstat 85585333

O-rings 23277649

tstat to gearbox housing seal 85628205

Info on supercession:

New part number for 70C transmission cooler bypass valve | Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra Forum

part number on the O-rings differs between pipe material.

Doh!!! I didn't even think about checking the Service Bulletin! I knew the part number for the Thermostat as well as the updated one since original bulletin and seal. I was able to find those in the online parts listings, just could never find the o-rings. Thank you sir for the info!
