Headache rack

If it wasn't for a crossover toolbox trumping a rack, I would have chosen this...

I don't have a headache rack, and my crossbed box is currently in storage, but there are solutions that will permit both. 

 

Some will also work with a tonneau

I purchased a Magnum over Black Friday for my AT4, but no pics because I haven't installed it yet. Supposedly they are compatible with all the third brake light cameras.

outside of the cool factor, what benefits does a rack offer....

I do not own one so so not know.

I think the idea is to protect your rear window/rear cab from items in your bed. 

 

Personally, I just like the way they look on an HD truck, so that's why I got one.

Rear window protection. It is very useful when trying to pack the truck with the kids bikes, grills, coolers, and all the other crap the wife has to bring with us camping.....
