Hey all, currently have a 14 gmc 5.3L been towing our Rockwood TT, 7500# DRY, 8850# GVWR.

Might buy a 18 Chevrolet ltz 6.2L max tow with 90k miles.

Any of you with the 6.2L towing my TT weights have Any Regrets?

Anyone wish they bought a 2500hd?

Have you had a chance to drive the truck?

If they would allow an overnight demo, you could bring it home, hook up your trailer and see how you like it.

6.2 is a great engine, but the truck will still be a 1500 with a pretty heavy trailer behind it.

If you're thinking about upgrading, I'd be looking at a 2500 with the 6.6 Gasser.

The 6.2 you are looking at probably has less payload  but more motor.

If you are over 8000 that's too much for a half ton I don't care what Chevrolet says. Or the guy that says his half ton will pull that much without even knowing it's back there they are full of shittt

Thank You Jim and Jim,  3/4 are great trucks for towing, that's for sure.  But the other 95% not towing is also a concern with mpg.  Don't believe I will tow long distance out of Michigan for now.

Went from a 15 Sierra 5.3 to my current 18 Sierra 6.2 with max tow and I love it.  If you want more power, the 6.2 definitely has it.  I don't do a lot of towing but I do some and the extra power with the max tow definitely helps.  I don't really notice any difference in fuel economy either from the 5.3, although it does require premium fuel while the 5.3 can run regular without any issue.

Nobody regrets the 6.2.

if you made a list of attributes a motor can have

-weight

-physical size

-power

-fuel efficiency

-reliability

-powerband

-cost (unfortunately the cost of the vehicle around the motor makes this inflated)

-mod friendly

sure there are other motors that beat it in individual categories, but IMO none that rank higher overall.

Best all around motor ever offered in a pickup truck.

Traded in my 14 GMC for the 18 Chevy silverado.  Alot of difference in power, can't wait until spring for towing the trailer.

Congratulations on your new to you truck! Now you can join the debates on why the 6.2 is the better engine😬

My only complaint is the AFM otherwise it would be the best motor out there.

went from a 2012 Chevy crew 4x4 with 5.3 to a 2018GMC crew 4x4 6.2 and totally love the 6.2. awesome power, better gas mileage.  Cold air intake, little exhaust work and tunes AFM out and I have found my sweet spot truck. always puts a smile on my face driving it. I also pull a 8000# travel trailer maybe 2 times a year and have no problems doing so. Premium fuel is rough right now but I have  another car to drive daily. I would not trade her for anything other than another just like it, maybe a newer one with the 10 spd tranny. Just my $.02
