Still is just a 4 banger.

That has more torque than your V8 lol.

Which is the whole point. You asked the question what needs updated, there’s a good example.

Last i checked the 6.2 still puts out more than 430 lb ft torque. So no, not more torque than my v8, plus i wont ever have to wait for the turbo to spool up to produce that power. No turbo lag, no crappy 4 banger sound with a "fart can" that most people will end up doing.  Plus, when towing, you get just as bad fuel mileage as a v8 with that 4 banger. I really dont see where you are going with this? If you want a 4 banger that bad just go buy a honda or toyota.

First off the V8s have had the same output since 2014!  The 5.3L could easily push 400HP and the 6.2L can push 475 or higher. There is no reason both of those V8s shouldn’t be class leading. there is no excuse for GM to neglect them for almost 10 years. It’s unacceptable when you have the small block reputation they are known for! Period!

The 2.7L looks to be a nice engine. Just not my style. It will do wonders in the Colorado and Canyon trucks. That’s where it will truly shine.

To be fair, its hard to push more power out of v8's with how hard the epa is cracking down on them.  Soon as you try to push more power, the epa steps in and waters it down with more extreme requirements than before.  Thats why you see 4 bangers and 6 cylinders with ground breaking power but not v8 because 8 cylinders happens to be "more polluting" in their heads.

Ha. I disagree.  Say that to Dodge….  They have been increasing HP/TQ in the SRTs and Hellcats for a while now

now their 5.7L so called Hemi, hasn’t had an upgrade which is unique but there is room to upgrade any V8 no matter what the EPA suggests. We have the technology to do so.

I didn’t say I like dodge. I didn’t talk about rear ends or transmissions. You totally are missing the point! GM has the technology to increase HP/TQ,  they are just too busy worrying about EVs right now which is ok for big city drivers but me in the Midwest, no surplus around me, time to charge is ridiculous, and extreme cold temperatures……we don’t know how long they will hold up, along with how long these batteries will last, what will we do with these batteries once they take a 💩💩.

Got rid of the "sideburns" which will please a lot of people. Probably one of the most polarizing features on the T1.

But Now they integrated a Pair Of LIPS for those Trims that have a Body Colored Bumpers.. I mean it's got a Grumpy Old Man SMIRK Face on it.. Definitely not a Fan of the Front End Changes.

When you look at what you get in a Hyundai or Kia today at 40-45k msrp.. The new Kia Sorento is a damn good looking ride inside and out imo. You would think at a average price of 50-55k you would get a bit more then what gm offers in it's truck line, even the redesign falls a bit short for what the cost of these trucks are today imo.

Does one strap their dirt bike to the hood or the roof?

Does a sheet of plywood fit in the back?

How manys bags of concrete or crushed stone will it haul?

Things one doesn't have to consider in Korea. 😉

I like the dash. Rest of the truck....yea.....not so much.

As long as they get approval for the loan... most will "buy" it. 😂

Looks nice.  I like that the DRL and the turn signal used the same light.  Now it turns amber for turn instead of off and another light for the turn signal.

I am really disappointed about the console shifter in the LTZ.  I use my truck for work and that is going to be a pain.  Also the lack of wheel well opening protection is kind of ridiculous.

Wow, you've posted so much wrong in this thread. Ram doesn't build their own transmissions (except in the standard output 2500/3500 diesel), haven't for a while. They use variations of the 8 speed ZF which is world class and used in some very exotic cars, plus BMWs, Jeeps etc. It's an awesome transmission and its bulletproof. The HO diesel uses an Aisen which is as heavy duty as it gets. And as for "blown out rear ends" you're going to need to provide data on that because I live on all these truck forums, from Ram to GM to Ford to Toyota and "blown out rear end" is not something that shows up in the Ram forums.

Secondly, you have already been corrected on the 2.7 turbo but good grief just admit you were wrong instead of changing the goalposts. Back on page 1 you said the 2.7 had less torque than the 5.3 and then when proven wrong you just say "well its still less than my 6.2". I sure hope so. Doesn't change the fact that 2.7 is putting out some impressive numbers and is probably the better option vs the 5.3 for many people. And there are several turbo v6's which outrun the 6.2 so get used to turbos as they are the future of gas engines. You will not see any more changes coming to N/A engines, they are on the chopping block or put on ice. Even FCA has killed the hemi. They're all done. Gone. Get one while you can.

Have you driven the 2.7? There is no turbo lag, in my test drive which was a used 2.7 with noisy off road tires, I could not hear the engine and would have sworn it was running the 5.3. Only at idle with the windows down could I actually tell that it was a 4 banger.

"Turbo lag" is not a criticism, if it's there its very unnoticeable. What you get in return is gobs of torque at very low RPMs. Meaning, it's stronger than the 5.3 in almost every scenario except under WOT conditions where the extra HP of the 5.3 tips the balance in favor of the v8. But pulling a trailer or driving in the city or climbing a hill/grade, the 2.7 is stronger due to the torque at low rpms. It drives and feels more like a diesel.

The new 2.7 would be on my short list if I had to replace my truck anytime soon. That and the 3.0 diesel which is actually at the top of my list.

A damn good 4 banger at that.  The current 348tq version lights the turbo VERY quick with that dual volute design, zero lag.  Smooth and strong engine.  Its very diesel-like in its operation.  Feels every bit as fast as the 5.3 with the 6 speed in the 2019 and 2020 trucks, and I say this having just driven the two back to back.  I actually preferred the 2.7T.  This HO version should pull even stronger.

Easy solution, don't buy the LTZ then. No more disappointment.

Think of the money you'll save for some features that you can surely live without.
