I’ve had it 2 weeks now.  Love the shocks and the ride.  I want to remove the chrome Silverado badge on the tailgate and black out the chrome 6.2 on the hood.  I added the Putco dark chrome door sill protectors which thankfully they mimic the black chrome trim throughout the interior.

That is one fine truck and a total looker. Are the seats any more comfortable or are they the same as the previous year? Assuming you have tried the previous year's seats.

Can't wait to get mine! ETA to the dealer is the 15th. I got the same color but the wheels with the silver and gold accents.  I agree, I also want to change out the chrome "silverado" on the tail gate to black along with adding black "chevrolet " lettering. I also thought about going with a red 6.2 badge. First thing though is the borla s-type exhaust!

I traded in a 2022 GMC Sierra AT4 Limited, and I can honestly say that yes the seats are much better than the pre-refresh seats.  I felt the GMC seats were hard and my butt/back would hurt even on the shortest of drives.  I recently drove the ZR2 5.5 hours and had no discomfort whatsoever.  A major improvement in my humble opinion.

I thought all you democrats in New York drive a Toyota Prius 😂

Careful, the word Democrat is a fighting word with my in-laws.  They are die hard Republicans.  I think you will find more and more Dems are converting after the current debacle 😀

I saw my first one in person at a dealer lot tonight but it was sold. It was all black but the wheels didn't look like they were gold, just machine silver. It was kind of dark where it was sitting so maybe it was bad lighting. I see they got rid of the mud flaps. The blue one in all the press intro had them. Now they're just caps. I don't believe the one I saw had the silver skid plate, but maybe I missed it looking at other things. I don't know what the little thin rectangular lights in the grill are for. They look out of place. The hood IS different on the ZR2 and Trail Boss versions as there was a refresh Custom there and it's hood is the same as mine, but the ZR2 has more of a dual channel line with the "scoop" sitting on top of it. I don't like it nearly as much in person as I thought I did in pictures. I was thinking of trying to put one on my truck, but will be skipping it now. I just want the shocks at this point! The interior looked nice but was too dark to really get a good look at it all. I'd take the seats for sure! Are yours the massaging seats or are those an option?

It appears they come on with the parking lights and headlights, from what I've seen in photos. They don't appear to be illuminated with just the DRL.

No massaging seats, but significantly more comfortable than the previous gen seat for sure.  The interior is what sold me on the truck.  The shocks are amazing as well.  The thin lights are running lights similar to a Raptor or TRX that look really cool.  The front bumper, grille, and hood scoop are ZR2 specific which I like so it doesn't look like every other Chevy out there.....as it should for the price they are asking.  I am sure the black looks amazing as well, but my days owning black trucks are over lol.

I take it you haven't seen a Trail Boss yet...LOL.  I don't even own a ZR2 and it pisses me off that GM slapped the same hood on both levels of Trail Boss.

I said this in another post. Why have the same hood on ZR2 and Trailboss.  Damn Mary!

TFLtrucks just got a ZR2 in this Sandstone color. Kinda digging it.

I stand corrected and thank you.  I thought there was a minor difference but it appears they are the same other than the chrome 6.2 badge which I wish wasn't on mine.  Honestly, I am not a fan of the hood scoop period.  It's non functional and impedes viewing over the hood.  Is it actually bolted onto the hood on simply stuck with 3M?  If it is stuck with 3M, I may remove it.  If not, I have to live with it.  Or, maybe I will have a body shop cut out holes in the front of the scoop where there are multiple indentations to help the engine breath better.  And, it's so weird that on both the trailboss pictured and in the chevy accessories catalogue, only front mud flaps are available....SMH.

20220503_090945.thumb.jpg.feb90c74dd1bd5466085cadd260bc926.jpgHonestly, I prefer the front of my '21 trail boss better than any of the refreshed models.  What sold me on it was the dealer gave me 7,000 more than I paid for my TB, along with the opportunity to get the first ZR2 silverado.  I only would have done it for a ZR2. With all the standard options on the ZR2 I think it's the best bang for your buck out of all the models. The only option I got was the Glacier blue paint. I placed my order on 12-15-21 so I was locked in before all the price increases. With my GM employee discount the price is 62,400.

I really like my 6.2 TB but I at the time I couldn't get one with leather and that's something I really prefer.  The new interior is amazing, and I'm sure the new front will grow on me. I just wish GM would have left the bow tie where it was.

    • That makes sense, and I think you are describing the real product problem. Capturing data is the easy part. If the owner or technician has to manually dig through five minutes of millisecond-level logs, the product has already failed. The device would be at the ECM harness, not at the OBD port, so I agree that data retrieval and event marking need to be thought through carefully. The way I am thinking about the architecture is: The recorder itself should not depend on a phone, app, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or cloud connection to capture the event. It should always keep a local rolling buffer and lock the event locally. A button, phone app, or small cabin device would only act as an event marker. If the driver feels a stumble and presses the button 10–30 seconds later, the pre-buffer has to already contain the useful data. For data retrieval, the practical options would be a sealed service USB lead, Wi-Fi download, or a phone/cabin companion device. I would not expect the owner to remove the ECM-side module or work with raw files directly. The cloud or AI side would be for interpretation, not for capturing the event. The truck may have no connection when the issue happens, so the evidence has to be saved locally first. After that, cloud processing could help decode the data, compare it against baselines, and generate a readable report. For the first version, I would keep the automatic triggers conservative and objective: driver event marker bus-off error passive voltage drop / brownout device reset FIFO or queue overflow a normally periodic message disappearing side-to-side communication mismatch, if the topology supports that For “learning normal,” I agree with your point, but I would not want to overclaim it as automatic root-cause diagnosis at first. A realistic first step would be learned baseline comparison for that specific vehicle and operating condition. For example, a value would only be compared against similar conditions: RPM range load / MAP throttle position gear / vehicle speed coolant and oil temperature battery voltage AFM/DFM state, if decoded and validated Then the report could flag things like: this periodic message disappeared compared with its normal timing this value deviated from this vehicle’s normal range under similar conditions the same abnormal pattern repeated after the same type of event the anomaly occurred together with voltage, oil-pressure, misfire, or communication changes But I would still call that “abnormal pattern detected,” not “replace this part,” unless there is enough validated repair data behind it. So the intended product would not be “here is a huge log.” It would need to be an event package: what triggered the capture how much pre/post data was preserved what changed before and after the event whether the device itself reset, overflowed, or saw a bus error selected graphs around the event raw data only as supporting evidence From your perspective, what would make this kind of report useful instead of just another datalog? For example: What are the top 5 parameters or events you would want highlighted first? Would you trust a learned baseline for that specific vehicle, or would you prefer fixed thresholds? How much false-positive flagging would be acceptable before you stopped looking at the reports? What would a one-page report need to show for an independent shop to take it seriously? For misfire, AFM/DFM, oil pressure, or U-code complaints, what would you want the tool to flag automatically?
