txab Posted January 13, 2025 Posted January 13, 2025 A week or so ago price jumped $ .31 to $2.69 only to start dropping a penny or so a day. $2.62 today. A side note about the Gas Buddy app. In my area there are a coupe of people who post incorrect low prices at Wally stations here as well as others in the same area. I can post the correct price and before long it'll be changed to $2.38 which is way wrong right now. Guess they're wanting to cause people an issue

Guess they're wanting to cause people an issue I find that the people that do that are posting the price they pay after their discounts from the actual gas station rewards program. They do it here all the time. It is most annoying. 3
richard wysong Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 Price just over the border in NH up .20. was $2.69, $2.89 this am. No change locally. Possible tax increase for the new year?

In the last week from Texas to Oklahoma it ranged from 2.40 to 2.60.

Well the folks around these parts have a lot of trains and not a lot of brains, And they post the prices on gas buddy after their discounts. Instead of posting what the pump says before they touch it.

richard wysong Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 I of the low$ places on the hiway went down .10 from $2.84 to $2.74, no discount. So the only thing that makes sense is that NH increased the tax
KARNUT Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 When I posted the 2.50 price at the pump that was actually the price. If I was putting gas in the avalanche I would take the discount. My discount at Kroger are monthly and are calculated by products bought at the store. I don’t usually need to fill the avalanche monthly with such a large gas tank. Then I’ll use the discount in the odyssey. Sometimes 1$ a gallon. Usually 50 cents. I state the discount.
Buckwild27 Posted January 15, 2025 Posted January 15, 2025 I put gas in every 3 days today's price is $3.29
Likarok Posted January 18, 2025 Posted January 18, 2025 (edited) Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news. Most Americans are likely Not Aware that 60% of the heavy oil used for making gasoline in the US came from Canada last year. More specifically from the province of Alberta were I live. Most US oil production is light oil and is exported. As of Monday Mr. Trump plans on putting a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and it looks like he plans on a tariff on Canadian oil imports. So how there can be a 25% tariff on something that you import 60% of without it having a negative effect or causing a price increase to the guy at the pump will be interesting to see, Economists are saying US gasoline prices could be going up about $1.00 per US gallon if Trump enacts this oil tariff. What is also interesting is that Canada has been selling this oil to the US at a massively discounted price as compared to the world OPEC price schedule, so if the US goes shopping for another supplier other than Canada they are going to have to pay world oil price and Gasoline could go up even more! Currently a lot of the US refineries that make gasoline are setup specifically to refine this Alberta Oil Sands product. (Heavy Oi) In the town I live in in Alberta TWO oil trains a day go though my City on their way to the US. Hundreds of rail cars per day. This is because Joe Biden stopped the construction of the Keystone pipeline when he came to power. So this heavy oil is mostly shipped by rail car to refineries in the central plains states instead of by pipeline. Some is still shipped by smaller pipelines to the eastern US. Once the oil hits the US locomotives transfer the rail cars to points south but most go to Tulsa Oklahoma or the gulf coast. Pres Trump is also tariffing a number of products from Canada. Will have to watch next week to see what he does. But expect anything that is sold in the US that is imported from Canada to go up in price by 25%. Basically a tax on Americans because Canada shippers are not going to eat these price increases. That is the way tariffs work. And it is not just Canada, Mexican products also getting 25% increase, as well as other countries from all over the world. Mr. Trump is saying 60% tariff on Chinese products. Better hold our breath! Things could be getting way more expensive. Edited January 18, 2025 by Likarok 2
