Did your dealer follow the bulletin 22-NA-169 (released 8/15/22) and update the software?

My assumption is yes, but I'm not 100% sure. Why wouldn't they follow or use the latest updates?? I'm not sure why any dealership trying to resolve an issue wouldn't use the latest factory updates or protocol. They state no codes were tripped & latest software & relearning procedures were performed.

I don't know what bulletin they referred to but would assume one dealership doesn't have one update that another doesn't. Funny, mine have worked flawlessly for about 2 months now. Maybe just a software glitch that re-learning them solved?

I've had the same problem since it was new. It never acts up when at the dealer (no surprise). I do notice it happens most often when the OAT is over 90 degrees and more often than not on the driver's side. It hasn't occurred since the weather cooled off. This becomes a safety issue as if they do not deploy, it is a LONG drop to the ground! I've almost fallen twice and the wife once. If it is happening this often, you would think GM would take notice.

I was considering getting these for my 2022 LTD Trail Boss Custom to make better ground clearance but the sharing here has me nervous.

Yeah, on my truck that I leveled, it's a substantial drop! Close the door & re-open if you haven't tried that already.

How old is your truck, Jimmy?

7 month old.  The problem started on the first hot day.

You may be onto something with the temp! Mine have been working great the past few months with the cooler temps. When I was having the issues, it was upper 80's to mid 90's.

I’ve considered installing retractable steps but after reading this painful recitations,  are there any aftermarket that DONT have these issues. This is not rocket science.

Just get fixed steps. No moving parts and no headaches

Doing that but I can't find high clearance versions for the trail boss and I need mud and snow/ice, rock clearance where we live. The stock black round tubes suck and act like nerf bars where I need that 4-6" of clearance.

Yeah if you’re doing big rocks you will need the extra clearance. Mud/snow is no issue though. My fixed drop steps are still 13” off the ground which is higher than the rear diff and no one’s going through 13” of mud.

The OEM tube steps act like friggin spoilers on a jet.
