I have been looking at purchasing a system and was wondering if anyone knew who was the cheapest or most reputable company to order from? So far I have found the one I want at both American Truck and Real Truck and both were the same price point at 1499.00.

I’ve been using the same exhaust shop for 40 years. Until I joined this forum I thought that was the way to go. The custom exhaust I’ve had done must have been unusual, seems there’re hard to find. In saying that exhaust flows pretty unrestricted these days. So if you’re looking for more sound changing your muffler will do the trick for a lot less money.

And it will sound like schitt usually. And drone too . Get the borla. I've done my last two trucks with borla no regrets whatsoever.

You know I admit I may have had a unique bender and may be spoiled. I’ll put him up against any mail order. The only way you can make a fart unnoticeable is to silence it. I’ve had factory tuned 4 and 6 cylinders. They still didn’t sound like V-8s. If they could I’d have one on the Honda.

Got my Borla exhaust from https://www.autohance.com/

This is the exhaust I ended up going with.  https://www.autohance.com/borla-140780-touring-cat-back-exhaust-system.html

Dang it!  Sale just ended.  Bought mine for 1280 +tax free shipping.

I had a Flowmaster on my 2008 Ram Sport and it droned.  Was cool the first week or two and then it was annoying.

Just did a ton of research over a weeks time and ended up getting the Borla 140780 Touring exhaust.  I went back and forth a few days between Touring and S-Type, but after reading countless posts and listening to the Borla sound/videos I decided to go with the Touring.

I absolutely LOVE it!  Nice deep sound.  Just sounds so badass without being obnoxious.

If my truck was a fun 3rd vehicle that I didn't have to drive then I would have went S-Type, but as a daily commuter and 2 family trips per year I went with the Touring.  Just put 1000 miles on it from NY to OH and back.  No issues.

I’m glad you like it. That’s all that counts.

Thanks!

I thought I was going to save you some money if you went the Borla route, but the sale unfortunately just ended at the end of July.

I just happened on that site when I was looking for cat back systems.

EDIT:  Oops sorry, lol, thought you were the OP.

I actually looked into just getting a Borla muffler instead of the whole cat back, but I called Borla and the guy told me the only option for my truck from Borla was the whole cat back.

I looked into a lot of different options like Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Gibson, etc.

I’ve had dozens of exhaust built by the same guy for 40 years some pretty unusual. He recently sold his shop. I’ve even had super trapp on some trucks. I’ve had hidden exhaust in front of the back wheels that I could cap with full exhaust for trips. I’ve had quads full exhaust with caps loud and not. Never once cost as much as mail order. I haven’t once rode in a truck that had cylinder deactivation and exhaust that I couldn’t hear the change in tone. Some day I’ll run across someone who has the mail order you speak of and be enlightened. I hear it the background on Ram trucks with factory duals. As many trucks they sell with that setup if anyone could mask the sound they would.

I have a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 6.2 motor. I had the performance exhaust put on which is a Borla mfg. I want to convert the crappy OEM exhaust tips with 2 double round pipes. The problem is that the tail pipe ends go up and then down and end just short of the factory tips (both the original and the Borla ). Does anyone make tips that would have the entry end curved upwards. The pipes are 2.75" and slightly oval-ed be I can round them to fit. Please bear with me I just joined this forum and haven't completed my profile yet.

Have you checked locally for a competent shop in your area?  A good welder is essential and may have a source for the tips your looking for.

Here's another thread, with pics, if you haven't seen.

I'm a fan of those double-walled dual tips and would love to finish the backend with those.

I just did a muffler delete with the AFE pipe replacement on my 22 refresh 5.3. I was unsure what it was going to sound like and was planning on the possibility that I would hate it and order a weld in muffler but surprisingly I love it. Seems like those tailpipe screened "resonators" do a good job of keeping the volume at a reasonable level. I don't really hear the exhaust in the cab unless I romp on it, even then its not louder than my 18 camaro SS 1le or my 17 ZL1. Actually no where near as loud but still has that deep v8 rumble and no drone.

For the cost of just over $100, I don't think you can go wrong giving it a try, especially if you are thinking about cutting out the stock exhaust anyways for a traditional catback.

Thanks DenaliSS, Yes I checked and even called Borla...their customer support is terrible, they don't know what their selling and give you the wrong information. Even the supervisors aren't good. I can weld but would prefer to just buy what I want and have it fit. The Borls HFS I have has the exact ends as the factory and no one can understand how to connect to them. There must thousands of the dual exhaust systems out there and others must had wanted the same thing but I can't find any.
