I have a '19 SLT 5.3 with 40K on it, and am contemplating a new truck.  It is a Mexico build (3 VIN).  What is the likelihood that this thing ****** the lifters?  Not worth spending that kind of money if the engine is going to grenade itself with no parts availability.

In my working years I shopped deals. The out the door price only mattered on the turn around the next time. We always had spare trucks so extended repairs wouldn’t matter as much for warranty work. If the 6.2 is available at a reasonable price the trade in should be at a premium still. The key in this  case is a spare available.

I would be picking this one up, or having it shipped from Laura GMC in IL.  I am outside of Philly.  Dealers around here only seem to get the Elevation and SLE models.  If a Denali does show up, it is sold with a markup.  I don't expect much below MSRP, if at all.  Ideally the new one would have the DFM delete, but I haven't found that configuration yet.

I traded a 2019 with 32K for a new 2022 Refresh.  My 2019 was a great truck, no issues.  The new 2022 has the 6.2 -  been great for the first 1k miles. The interior is a major upgrade.    I think the lifter issues have been mostly fixed for the 2022 trucks built since April time frame?  Anyway.. I wouldn't be too concerned with that. There are millions of these trucks on the road and people generally only come on forums to complain about issues... so keep that in perspective..

Its a big issue. When you see these with such low miles, its a defect. GM has yet to say when the cutoff was for those defective parts...because they probably dont know. There is no vin check to know if your affected. So the warranty is a job, if you ask me. Ridiculous on such an expensive truck. I would be good with upgraded warranty parts on the outside but would never sign up for internal motor work by some tech.

Does the 22 have DFM?

It's a crapshoot anyways. Same mechanical parts. I rolled the dice on a 22 with the 6.2L cause it gave me the biggest smile when test driving trucks.

I rolled the dice.  Pacific Blue '22 Sierra Denali 6.2L with Denali Reserve package.  Found it at Laura GMC and will be driving my '19 SLT out to them next Sunday for a Monday delivery and 13 hour drive home.  Sales rep sent pics today with the wheels and tonneau cover installed.  I'm excited!

Same thing I did last month.  Did the nationwide search and found the spec I wanted, which was a very rare spec. RST, Z71, Sunroof, 6.2 with the light color leather.  Plus this truck wasn't missing half the chips like a lot of trucks. Only the parking sensor was a later retrofit.  Drove my 2019 up there (10 hours one way) and traded in...   I'm too impatient to do a special order and waiting 8 months. I would rather take a few days and just be done with it. Wasn't all bad for me though as I got to visit with some family that lived near the dealer.
