No start after Dash Repair

Hey guys, after taking my dash out and repairing some horrible cracks, I put the day back in to find out that my truck won’t start, crank, nothing. I have power to everything except my radio and climate control. I also have a code P0615. I’ve jumped my starter through the relay with my key on run and my truck wouldn’t start although it cranked. Also replaced ignition switch, nothing changed. Any ideas? Thanks.

Check battery voltage - probably left the doors open while doing the work and ran it all the way down.

The battery was disconnected during the work and when I tried to start it the voltage was 12.4 volts.

Truck worked fine before dash removal, that would suggest during the removal process you made have accidentally disconnected a wire. PITA but you may have to remove dash again to inspect.

PLEASE post the cause and cure when you figure it out, there have been numerous posts of similar problems but as far as I know, no one has posted the results. I ran into it on a friends truck after he replaced the starter and battery, I lucked out and disconnecting the bat and reconnecting with the key on worked but that was pure luck. Same scenario, no gauges, blower and radio wouldn't shut off even with the door open key out, using the remote start made the key not function. my thoughts are BCM or buss problem. His would start and run for a second until trying the remote then nothing , fuel pressure was good

Yes that’s what I originally thought so I took the dash back out but still couldn’t find the problem. There are only a handful of wires that were unplugged so I don’t believe I missed any

Will do I’m taking it into the shop tomorrow to see what’s up I’ve been banging my head against this for 3 days and I’m throwing in the towel. I will still attempt to fix it today if anybody has any pointers.

P0615 is Starter Relay Control Circuit.  I think you've got more codes that maybe you can't see if your code reader can only reading powertrain.  

 

How much of the dash did you remove?  The entire assembly?  IMO, there's a wire that's been cut or a terminal isn't in a connector properly, or a connector isn't engaged correctly.

When the ignition switch is placed in the start position, a discrete signal is supplied to the body control module (BCM) notifying it that the ignition is in the start position. The BCM then sends a message to the engine control module (ECM) that crank has been requested. The ECM then verifies that the clutch is pressed for the manual transmission or that the automatic transmission is in park or neutral, and that the immobilizer is not disabling engine starting. If conditions are acceptable for cranking, then the ECM supplies 12 V to the control circuit of the STRTR relay. When this occurs, battery voltage is supplied through the switch of the STRTR relay to terminal S X2 of the starter solenoid, and the engine cranks. The ECM monitors the voltage on the STRTR relay control circuit

Was the switch replaced for this problem or prior to it?

Update: after a month the truck is fixed. Nothing I did from taking out the dash is was just bad timing. Fuse block finally gave out and I ended up taking it to the dealership and paying a lot to have them fix it. Either way, truck is fixed, make sure you check your fuse blocks!!

Thanx for the update, was it the underhood fuse block or under dash?

Under hood, it’s been filthy dirty and corroded since I’ve owned the truck and I guess it finally decided to die at a very unfortunate time.
