Went to the dealership expecting to grab a new grille for $400-$500. Instead found out that the grille is $1800CAD and there is no stock or ETA from the manufacturer as it is on back order.

I slammed on the brakes and grill took majority of the impact. I saw the deer go up 10-12ft and land in the ditch. I was expecting my front end to be smashed as well. Guess I got lucky and thank god the air bags didn't go off, as that would've cost more.

I would say part being made is going towards producing new trucks to get inventory back up. Parts are pretty much tough to get for anything still. If that is all the damage you got I'd say you did good.

Damn, sure it wasn’t a cat. I had a 61 super 88 tank back in the day look worse than that after a deer strike. My only time.

Yea that's what I figured. The dealership said I'd be looking at 2-4 months for the grille. He said if it was 4-5 weeks it would show in the inventory.

I called most of the GM dealers in Canada, and the ones who had this grille on hand, they were holding it for the body shops.

I tried to see if I could get the elevation or vader chrome grille off the Denali Ultimate lol. Same issue.

It was a fully grown deer, and I was doing about 110km/h (~65mph). It was about one second when I applied the brakes and hit the deer. So I had slowed down to maybe 60kmph. And I hit its ass end, as it was mostly off the road. But it still managed to get airborne and land in the ditch.

My 2008 Benz C350 didn't fare as well as yours.. and it was a baby deer while I was going 90 km/h. $4,500 in repairs. it sucked because the car was only two or three weeks old.

Yeah those days ended back in the 1990's, i don't think there are many parts on the front end under a grand or two except maybe the bolts and emblem.

Poor truck. But did you pick up the road kill... That's wasted venison.

Man, you got lucky that it was just the grill. If it was me, I would have the whole front end smashed in given my luck

IDK about the Lone Star State, but in many localities you're required to contact the game dept. or state patrol whom will see that the venison is donated often times ending up in county lockup kitchens. Since an accident report is needed for an insurance claim, the state patrol (or in the case of the OP the RCMP?) would be the logical choice.
