there's a vent  duct that blows cool air from below. not sure if its actually air conditioned or just ventilation, but either way, they did take steps to deal with heat.

I've never used my wireless charger either, the location just isn't convenient for me and need to plug in for android auto anyway.

My center console lid doesn't have the plastic tray like before. It is solid leather all the way across.

I see they started doing this on the 23s. I’m glad I have the tray, I actually use it.

Aren't the interiors the same? I mean besides the dash. The center console should be the same and as long as you have usb or power on the back behind the console it should be exactly the same. https://boostautoparts.com/products/2019-newer-gm-charging

Look under fitment. It shows 22 "refreshed" for GMC and Chevy as available.

The center consoles are absolutely not the same.

So dumb. I actually use that for my phone. Why remove it? Gm baffles me with their silly decision making.

Anyone tried swapping a 22 console lid in to a 23?  Would be nice to have the tray.

Thanks,
Rick

Highly likely it is identical other than the top

I think it's pretty stupid or greedy of GM/GMC removing the tray.  The 2022 refresh has the tray, Not sure what trim level are getting the tray on the 2023's as I've seen 2023 High Country having the tray on the center console and also the Sierra Denali having the tray.  If it's based on the higher end trim then it is pure greed to force one to these models if it is a must have feature.

Completely different trucks, but on the HD's my '22 Denali has the tray, my '23 AT4 does not. I found a console lid on gmparts.com for a '20 AT4HD that matches the '23 color and stitching, with the tray. My pug uses the trays to keep from sliding around when she's watching the road.

I’ve seen a 2023 high country without the tray so it’s not trim dependent as you suspect.

I have a newly built ( 11-11-2022 ) 2023 Denali Premium Package with wireless charging, but guess what, no tray in the armrest console. Solid leather.

Does the AT4x have a different charging pad than other trims? I am guessing they are specific based on the thread title?

Tyler

No the AT4X has the same charging pad right underneath the center console handle like all refreshed trucks with bucket seats.

I just picked up the retrofit kit from 404parts and plan to install it soon.

There's no tray in the 2023s because the wireless charging is underneath the armrest, right below the center console open button. IMO, this is a much better place for it because it keeps the phone easily accessible but out of the way. I also like it better since it's solid across the top for when I rest my arm.

Wireless charging wasn’t in the console lid for pre refresh. It was up closer to the center stack.

So no, the current location for the wireless charging slot is not the reason for deleting the tray from the console lid.
