I recently laid a small carry-on suitcase on its back in my bed with factory spray-in bedliner, and strapped it against the front wall, using the factory tie downs on the side walls. I was surprised to discover that it still slid around especially side to side. Do any of you use a mat or rug to help keep items from sliding around in your bed even though it has a spray-in bedliner? If so, what?

I had Line-X sprayed on my bed the first week of buying my truck.  But sometimes I was just lazy or couldn’t really tie down every little thing I threw back there.  So things slid around.  I have the full bedrug now.   It’s a GM part but made by Bedrug.  Part number 84655118.  It helps preventing some things from sliding around.  Any smooth plastics like a bin would still need to be tied down.  And you probably don’t need the whole bedrug like me.   Having the bottom rug alone is good enough.

When I turned 16 many many years ago and got my first truck, a Ford Ranger, I was so excited to clean it and make it mine. It had a drop in plastic bed liner, and I Armor-Alled the whole thing, looked great! But wholy cow that thing was like ice! Haha. I ended up with a bed rug and problem mostly solved.

Thanks for the Bed Rug recommendation. After looking at it, I have a few questions:

1) If I wanted to haul wood mulch or rock mulch would I remove the rug?

2) Is the hook side of the velcro on the bed or on the rug? I'm hoping the hook is on rug so stuff won't get caught in it if I were to remove the rug to haul a bit of dirt or something.

3) What if use this in open bed and it rains? Must I remove it to dry it?

1) You don't have to remove the rug unless you want to

2) I can't remember for sure but I think the hook side is what sticks to the bed. It's been years since I had one.

3) NO. It is polypropylene and closed cell foam so it doesn't absorb water. It's essentially marine grade carpet.

Do you guys have the mat only, the XLT, or the full liner over your spray-in? I would think mat only or XLT because of difficulty with adhesion to the spray-in walls, is that right?

I have the full bedrug going up the bed walls.  I cheated and didn’t use any Velcro or adhesive for the walls and it‘s staying up so far.  No flopping down or anything.  It tucks under the bed rails and the 3 brackets on each side for my tonneau cover keeps it from flopping down as well.  Only Velcro tape I used was on the edges at the tailgate.  And of course I need it for the piece that stays on the tailgate itself.  Can’t say if that would be the same for everyone but worked for me.

The GMC rubber bed mat from GMC accessories is fantastic. I have it and love it. Absorbs impacts and everything sticks like velcro back there. Also knocks down sound. Not expensive either.

Husky makes a nice bed mat. I have one in my 2022 Silverado (no bedliner) and also one in my 2019 GMC Canyon on top of the factory spray-in bedliner.

Here is where i got mine for my Silverado. https://amzn.to/3ItpsdY

I have the OEM spray in bed liner and I have a GM rubber bet mat on top of that, it's been about 2 years and no issues to report.

    • Holy smokes. Clearly not a deal on that truck. I just mean in general, matte or painted trim is becoming more normative than chrome, but I know the Black Optics packages on various vehicles are being sold as uplevel trims. They look really good, but sheesh. It's just paint and plastic.
    • I Wouldn't Know Where to Begin    Oh I know where I would begin but I'm just one of over eight billion people on this rock. Eight billion versions of where the goal post is. How large it should be. How far to kick from. What ball is the right ball. Elevation. Age.....are you getting the point? It isn't about disagreeing with one individual. It's about agreeing only with one individual. One's self.   Agreement comes when multiple people hold the same point already. THAT is the goal of an education. Building the Social Contract. That thing that allows us to all read this sentence. We've agreed on the alphabet and how to arrange those letters into words we agree upon whose meanings hold true for everyone entering into that contract. Those words arranged into a sentence form an idea and several sentences strung together in a paragraph convey an argument for or against or inform the reader of a state, condition or perhaps reveal a things nature. Paint a word picture. Make oneself known.    This contract is not limited to words although they are often explained by words. Things like numbers and their usefulness. Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Music, Art and so on.    The frequency of middle C (C4) is 261.63 Hz is a first principle. We build on that to make music we all can enjoy even if we all can not compose or play. You don't have to master it to make it enjoyable and useful.    So why is the Beginning so difficult? Why is agreement so elusive?   Everyone "Signs" the contract (when receiving that education in obtaining it)  but fewer and fewer in this world have any intention of living by that contract. They find exploiting that contract more advantageous. Disruption. With intent. Without intent. In Ignorance. In your face. With a double dog dare you. With a hold my beer. In resistance to that contract and in spite how it looks on us. It permeates the very air we breath.    In this way the contract is subject to advantage. Abide by it when it serves you, disregard it when it doesn't. Unpredictable and self-serving. Corrosive.....Toxic........   It says a lot about a persons character to disregard the contract, the truth, first principles. None of it good.        ********************************************************   https://medicine.yale.edu/news-article/character-vs-personality-who-we-are-and-who-we-aspire-to-be/   Just an interesting article.
    • It costs $5,250 for the Yukon Nightfall option (black wheels, emblems and illuminated black GMC grill badge). What a "deal".
    • I keep getting the above error message on my 25 Sierra.  If I reset the infotainment unit (via the phone hang up button) it will work again for a day or 2.   But I dont want to do have to reset  all the time. Works fine in my 2023 Corvette. On both vehicles I connect wirelessly.   I have a Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, phone is up to date.  Any Ideas.  See attached
    • LOL, its thrown a few people because this item is being talked about in the gas part of the HD forum. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to put a very brief wording in your profile with the year/GM or Chev/2500 or 3500/ and yes the 6.6 Duramax. When I joined this forum I could see the confusion ensuing for my own truck unless I had it listed with my chosen name handle unless one has a few vehicles that apply to a GM forum as that becomes confusing as well. Anyway its all good, makes for a little forum excitement 😉
